Na Mele O Hawai'i Nei: 101 Hawaiian Songs [Elbert],
By Little Red Hen (Martinez, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Na Mele O Hawai'i Nei: 101 Hawaiian Songs (Paperback)
An excellent resource for those who need lyrics and some information about Hawaiian-language songs; it's also a worthy purchase if you are a student of Hawaiian language and would like to study its use in the practical form of song lyrics. [Note to musicians - No "tabs," melodies or chords.] I consider this a must-have for a Hawaiian library.

Lack of music a major drawback,

The explanations and translations of the songs are interesting, but the lack of music diminishes the book's value considerably. I grew up in Hawaii, but knew very few of this book's songs. It may possibly be of interest to an aspiring Hawaiian musician or singer
