Nacional Records Sampler 2009: The New Sounds Of Latin Music

Just as the title states, Nacional Records really does have the best Latin Alternative music. They may been unheard of to most music listeners, but they garter the best musicians to date. Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are like the Rolling Stones of Latin America and have been active for over 2 decades, producing the best music out there - and now they're back and are a real asset to the label. Bomba Esterero are becoming popular, right out of Colombia, getting mainstream recognition with their McDonald's ad deal. It is an absolute STEAL to get all this music for free, and in time you'll know why when you hear your friends, co-workers, and family listening to and talking about artists and songs from this sampler. Mexican Institute of Sound (MIS) is at the brink of blowing up after exposure on America's CNN.

Your eyes have read the review, you've made up your mind... Now let your ears have a shot and your hips wont be sorry!

Being curious about all kinds of music I usually download most of the free sampler offerings on Amazon and let the chips fall where they may. In most cases I'm lucky to find two or three tracks I really like and end up dumping the filler tracks.

This Nacional 2009 Sampler of contemporary Latin music is one that deserves your attention because it's far and away the best free offering I've found since Amazon started offering free MP3 downloads about a decade ago. The music is so good I feel guilty about not paying a dime for it. I will certainly be doing some follow up purchases of the following artists on the collection:

I'm not an expert on Latin music but I already own music by Juana Molina, Pinker Tones and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs who are already established international stars, in their own right.

Don't be a slave to your musical expectations about Latin music. The bands on this collection have plenty of attitude. This music is a far cry from Jose Feliciano, Herb Alpert or the Baja Marimba Band. These musicians are closer in substance to the electronica grooves of worldbeat post-modernists like Theivery Corporation, Chris Joss and Air. You don't need to speak or understand Spanish to appreciate the music. For those who are North American provinicialists: there are even a few songs in English!

Download the entire album and give it a few spins to let the music sink in. I have yet to dump a single one of the 16 songs because every selection is outstanding. The Nacional offerig is everything a good music sampler should be. I'd pay the standard retail price of $8.99 to download the fine music on this Nacional sampler.

Nacional Records was very smart to create this sampler and to allow such a scheme. I enjoyed every track and I have definitely added several albums from the artists featured to my checkout cart.

Try it, experience, it, enjoy it because it's free and you having nothing to lose. Great job on this.

i was blown away when i saw that it was free....i had the last album too you guys do really pick the best latin american artist. I really like bostich and fussible and all the work they do.... I really recommend getting this album!!!!

You can't beat free music. If it is, you might was well try it out.

I confess to long being an afficianado of "World Music", which is why I chose to download the "Nacional Records Sampler 2009" in the first place.

I read the reviews of others and am in complete agreement with everyone else who loves this collection. It is, quite simply, awesome. There is something wonderful, alive, catchy, funny and/or tender (and in most cases, dance-able) in every song.

I've been listening to this collection for the past two days, so it is difficult for me to single out "favorite songs"...truly, there's so much greatness packed into this Sampler that I'm loving it from one end to the other.

Advice? Download while you've still got the chance to acquire it por nada! And when a price is put upon it, if you're able to afford to pay back for all the free enjoyment, buy this CD as a gift for a friend -- or seek out the albums of the artists who impress you the most and pay for the download. Fair is fair.

Gracias (!) to Nacional Records and Amazon for making such a great album available to those of us who, like many, are living quite close to the bone in these difficult economic times. This is a splendid gift for the ears and the spirit -- new music that opens new worlds, introduces us to artists we might not have had the opportunity to hear and encourages us to get off our butts and dance through life.

It is true that money cannot buy happiness. Listening to this Sampler fills me with happiness and cost me nothing but a little electricity and disk space and the time to read reviews, listen to the sound bytes and wait for the download to complete. Beautiful!!
