Editorial Reviews

Anyone can play a song, but not everyone can put themselves through the wind-sprint endurance tests that IfIHadAHiFi's sets, and records, consist of. Active since the year 2000, the Milwaukee group has released 3 1/2 albums to an ever-increasing amount of critical acclaim. Their new release, the Nada Surf EP (its title a response to the titular band's use of the name If-I-Had-AHiFi for the title of their latest record) and its three bonus tracks retain the aggressiveness of past recordings. Fear not, however-their trademark feedback, howling synthesizers, and frenetic drumming are still front and center.

2.0 out of 5 stars Oops. January 23, 2012

First: Don't be an idiot (like I was), this is not a Nada Surf record.
After I finally got a clue, I listened again and, I'm sorry, I don't like it. I don't want to call it noise, but I just didn't find anything to latcch onto.
The blurb said they are critically acclaimed, but I'm not sure what for. Others have made a bigger racket and had more to say musically. Sonic Youth, for instance.
Listen to the samples and decide for yourself.
