Editorial Reviews

The long-awaited DVD release of the Lebanese legend's only recorded workshop. Recorded in NYC in 1981, this instructional DVD is geared toward professional belly dancers and advanced students. Learn two of Nadia Gamal's grand choreographies, with dance styles including Oriental dance, folklore, basic beledi, drum solo, and Bedouin Gypsy. The fi rst is a "Raks Sharki" dance, and the second a Bedouin folkloric dance.

There is so little recorded of this legendary dancer - this DVD is a true treasure! It's the only workshop recorded of her. I've learned the choreo to "Amina" and love performing it. It's classic belly dance and audiences love it!

Great DVD. It's really worth it. You get familiarized with her technique. She talks about how she uses arms an fingers, very important in her way of dancing.

I read in another review here that she doesnt break the choreography into individual steps, but i think if you have a medium level of knowledge in bellydance this is not necessary, because she explains along with the dancing anyway and its clear enough.

I'm glad i purchased it

It is noted on the dvd that Nadia was never a dance teacher. I wish I knew that before I purchased this. Bluntly put, here is the run down. She has a strong accent. She does not count or break down choreography. She dances and expects the workshop students to copy. The students seemed a little annoyed half of the time. BTW, she dances good; not great. Let's not get crazy here. I noticed that her shoulder pushes are awkward and well, she is wearing high heels to boot. (No offense Neon :) Buy it if you are related to her or if feel like seeing how she dances. You really won't learn anything though.
