“Nadia G's approach to food is incredibly fun and refreshing. She is truly an original which in this day and age is no easy task. Not only do you have a great time while watching her cook but most importantly to me as a chef she teaches you during the process. Her book Cookin for Trouble just like her show is flat out BITCHIN’!”-- Michael Symon , chef and television personality
“Rock ‘n’ roll never tasted so good.”--Lou Reed
“Nadia G brings earthiness, sex and high heels to the relatively monkish world of TV cookery.”--The New York Times
Let me start off by saying I don't buy many cookbooks anymore. But Nadia G's books are not just cookbooks, not any more than Bitchin' Kitchen is just a cooking show. When you combine the practical instruction of a cooking instructor, the zaniness of a seasoned comedienne and the hotness of a rock star, you get the genius that is Nadia Giosia.
Usually you buy a cookbook and you get recipes, some tips about cooking and if you're lucky, a few pictures. If you're even luckier, those pictures might be in color. Cookin' For Trouble puts all other cookbooks to shame! The book is as beautiful, colorful and fun as the author herself. Every page is guaranteed to make you hungry, laugh and say, "Wow!" at the gorgeous photos and design. Between the amazing pictures of the food, the images, fonts and overlays on every single page and the incredible photographs of Nadia that mark each chapter, this book could just as easily be sold in the Art section of the bookstore. Case in point is my favorite photo in the chapter Depression Desserts which looks more like a museum-quality painting than a picture in a cookbook.
Cookin' For Trouble is hysterical. Nadventures, Nadvice (which actually contains serious life lessons), contributions from the BK Crew, and even the recipe instructions will keep you laughing so much, you might forget you are supposed to cook. But don't forget because the recipes are incredible. There's something for everyone with chapters like (Dysfunctional) Family Pizza Night and Nonna Recipe Showdown, Gluttony G-Style and Makeover Meals, Bitchin' Booty Camp Xtreme and my personal favorite, Veg-Head Extravaganza. There is also a love letter to Nadia's fans in the form of a Community Chapter with recipes, photos and quotes from the BK Community fan base.Read more ›
This book shows exactly why Nadia G is considered the Julia Child of the Net Generation! Her trademark of turning traditional recipes and traditional cooking styles on their heads is evident in every page of this luscious new book, from creamy cream-less soups to a Pancetta Chestnut Stuffing guaranteed to rock your roast turkey dinner. Cookin' for Trouble makes the perfect Christmas gift for those who want their kitchen to rock with recipes that emphasize big bold colors, tastes and flavors.
Me and my son, Adam, loved Nadia Giosia's first cookbook so much we couldn't wait to get "Cookin For Trouble". We have cooked over 20 recipes from her first cookbook and they all turned out great. Adam's first recipe to cook from this cookbook was Nadia's No-Bake Peanut Butter Pie and it was delicious! The pictures are beautiful and it is also great to just sit down and read it for fun! We can't wait to do some more Bitchin' Kitchen cooking! We love ya Nadia and the BK Crew! Tina & Adam Rashed
This is one of the most outrageous cookbooks you'll ever read; it is not for the faint-hearted! Nadia is hysterical and the food is outstanding. A beautiful print job, gorgeous glossy photos. If you like the show, you will love the book!
When I first found Nadia G's Bitchin' Kitchen on Cooking Channel I was ecstatic. Finally a kindred spirit who is funny, has great style, speaks her mind, cooking her own fare, and rocking her kitchen ON TV! I was an instant fan.
This book is put together beautifully with easy to follow instructions. Each chapter has a theme you will relate to. The tidbits of information from Panos, the Spice Agent, and Hans are all good stuff and funny too. Every recipe comes with a picture so you can drool while you plan your meals. Pancetta Chestnut Stuffing, Rockin' Roast Beef, Bacon-Chocolate, Pasta Frittata, Turkey Matzoh Ball Soup, Hans... oh man am I ever hungry! Each dish I have made is a hit in my kitchen. Even my picky 10-year old will shkoff because she thinks Nadia G is cool.
Get this book, get the first book, and watch Bitchin' Kitchen. Even if you don't want to cook the food, you will laugh out loud over and over, get some good Nadvice, and think to yourself "I can't believe she just said that." It's worth your time and money. Your belly and brain will be happy.
Buy this book. It's got great recipes, the pictures and art are exceptionally well done and inventive, blah blah blah. That's all true individually, but doesn't matter as much as the fact that the total package is just amazing in every way.
Each picture of a dish is composed with skill and an inventive eye that makes you want to eat it NOW, and make it later. You will enjoy just looking every image and appreciating how Nadia and her friends make conjuring this magic appear so effortless.
The instructions for each recipe are clear, hilarious, and fun. Whatever your skill level, any reader can feel creative and accomplished with these dishes.
The viewpoint is snarky, serious, and unique, and a welcome blast of change in the food television universe.
Nadia G gives readers something truly special - a world of good food and fun.
Originally bought this for a friend as a Christmas present, ended up buying two more for my girlfriend and her mom. The book is hilarious and the recipes look fantastic. I would definitely recommend checking it out.
