HAUTE OUT OF THE OVEN—BITCHIN’ KITCHEN’S NADIA G IS COOKIN’ FOR TROUBLE!

Culinary It-girl Nadia G is just as skilled strutting in stilettos as she is wielding a meat cleaver. Now this Julia Child of the Net generation and host of the wildly popular Bitchin’ Kitchen TV show on the Cooking Channel brings her savvy chef know-how and rock star ’tude to glam up your dining experience. Trained at the culinary institute of Hard Wooden Spoon Whacks, Nadia says that her passion for food started in her Italian family’s kitchen, where meals became moments. In Cookin’ for Trouble, she shares recipes and cooking tips for beginner and seasoned home cooks to liven any occasion.

Back-of-the-Fridge Bachelor Brunches: Sometimes what lurks in the back of our fridge isn’t that inspiring, unless it’s been there long enough to strike up a conversation. No groceries, no problem! With just a few leftovers, whip up a scrumptious Sartu di Patate, or a Pasta Frittata that tastes like you’d planned it for days.

(Dysfunctional) Family Pizza Night: Bring your family and thighs closer together with the Giosia familia recipe for Rustica Pan Pizza, Puttanesca Panzerotti, and Traditional Italian Frittelle smothered in a creamy chocolate-nougat fondue.

Makeover Meals: We all get stuck in a rut sometimes, whether it’s the same boring dish, hairstyle, or boyfriend. It’s time for an upgrade! Turn ordinary dishes on their head with inspired crispy Tuna Sliders, smoky Chicken Risotto, and juicy Meatloaf Kebabs.

• Plus Nadia’s creative menus for Hi-Speed Suppers, Girl’s Night In, Veg-Head Specials, Student Shkoff-fest, and a special chapter devoted to everyone’s favorite food group: Bacon!

I know—we had you at “Bacon.” But there’s more! Loaded with gorgeous photos, more than fifty original recipes, sanity-saving “Nadvice,” a Bitchin’ Party Guide, and a hunky team of food correspondents—Panos, the Spice Agent, and Hans—Cookin’ for Trouble will take your meals from square to sassy faster than you can say “Tsaketa.”*

*and for newbies, there’s an Italian Slang Dictionary!

Review

“Nadia G's approach to food is incredibly fun and refreshing. She is truly an original which in this day and age is no easy task.  Not only do you have a great time while watching her cook but most importantly to me as a chef she teaches you during the process.  Her book Cookin for Trouble just like her show is flat out BITCHIN’!”--  Michael Symon , chef and television personality

“Rock ‘n’ roll never tasted so good.”--Lou Reed

“Nadia G brings earthiness, sex and high heels to the relatively monkish world of TV cookery.”--The New York Times

Let me start off by saying I don't buy many cookbooks anymore. But Nadia G's books are not just cookbooks, not any more than Bitchin' Kitchen is just a cooking show. When you combine the practical instruction of a cooking instructor, the zaniness of a seasoned comedienne and the hotness of a rock star, you get the genius that is Nadia Giosia.

Usually you buy a cookbook and you get recipes, some tips about cooking and if you're lucky, a few pictures. If you're even luckier, those pictures might be in color. Cookin' For Trouble puts all other cookbooks to shame! The book is as beautiful, colorful and fun as the author herself. Every page is guaranteed to make you hungry, laugh and say, "Wow!" at the gorgeous photos and design. Between the amazing pictures of the food, the images, fonts and overlays on every single page and the incredible photographs of Nadia that mark each chapter, this book could just as easily be sold in the Art section of the bookstore. Case in point is my favorite photo in the chapter Depression Desserts which looks more like a museum-quality painting than a picture in a cookbook.

Cookin' For Trouble is hysterical. Nadventures, Nadvice (which actually contains serious life lessons), contributions from the BK Crew, and even the recipe instructions will keep you laughing so much, you might forget you are supposed to cook. But don't forget because the recipes are incredible. There's something for everyone with chapters like (Dysfunctional) Family Pizza Night and Nonna Recipe Showdown, Gluttony G-Style and Makeover Meals, Bitchin' Booty Camp Xtreme and my personal favorite, Veg-Head Extravaganza. There is also a love letter to Nadia's fans in the form of a Community Chapter with recipes, photos and quotes from the BK Community fan base. And of course, there is an Italian Slang Dictionary so you can learn the difference between "Shkiaff" and "Shkoff."

It's no surprise that Nadia Giosia is a star on the rise. Beauty, humor and deliciousness describe the book as well as the author. Cookin' For Trouble should be on your holiday gift list for everyone including yourself. A la Prossima!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nadia G just keeps getting better and better! October 29, 2011

Me and my son, Adam, loved Nadia Giosia's first cookbook so much we couldn't wait to get "Cookin For Trouble". We have cooked over 20 recipes from her first cookbook and they all turned out great. Adam's first recipe to cook from this cookbook was Nadia's No-Bake Peanut Butter Pie and it was delicious! The pictures are beautiful and it is also great to just sit down and read it for fun! We can't wait to do some more Bitchin' Kitchen cooking! We love ya Nadia and the BK Crew! Tina & Adam Rashed
