5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended, August 5, 2004
This review is from: Nadia's BlissDance: The Ecstatic Bellydance Workout, Vol. 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This workout is unique, I admire the way it beautifully blends belly dance with Yoga and Pilates. Unlike many cookie-cutter belly dance fitness videos, this one teaches you real belly dance steps and combinations to a number of traditional Middle Eastern rhythms. In a very short time you will learn a few graceful dances as well as perform effective stretches. I enjoy exercising with this video! It is joyful and uplifting, and at the same time meditative, very exotic and attractive visually!

5.0 out of 5 stars You Can Almost Smell the Incense, February 10, 2005

This review is from: Nadia's BlissDance: The Ecstatic Bellydance Workout, Vol. 1 [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have owned several bellydance workout videos, and really haven't liked most of them. This one is a definite keeper. After a 10-minute or so warm-up (which is kinda fun) Nadia works each area of the body using bellydance movements. There's a sort of quasi-sensual/spiritual feel to it. The workout is about 20 minutes, followed by a 10-minute cool down. The yoga and pilates are in the cool-down; there's no "fusion" in the actual workout. There's no real cardio, either, but it is a nice way to work different muscles. Nadia ends her video the way most do, with a short routine of her own. The music and setting have an authentic feel to them, and I should know - I'm an American living in Egypt and I've been dragged to lots of shows.
