5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected
I was supprised that this system had good sound quality. The quility of the microphones are ok, they feel kind of cheap. The range is great, I had the reciever in my basement and was able to walk to the stop sign at the end of our street without a dropout.

I read other reviews saying this was a great product for the price. But it was hard to find any detailed information.

First of all, the output is MONO. Both mics are mixed down to one mono output. To make it worse, it's "mic" level instead of "line" level. The one and only audio connector is a 1/4" unbalanced jack, and it comes with a short cord with tin-plated (useless) connectors.

I can't understand why they would have built this thing without at least the option for a line level output.

The exact RF frequencies of operation are custom labeled on the receiver. It seems that you could use multiple receivers simultaneously, since it would be unlikely you would buy two units that have the same frequencies. I did find some intereference on one of the mics. But of course that will vary depending on where you're using it.

The mics are directional, and not very sensitive. It seems these were made for high SPL (like drunken karaoke people screaming into the mic). Not good for picking up quiet sounds from all directions.

4.0 out of 5 stars quality and value, March 11, 2010

I am impressed by the quality and clarity from these microphones; the sound is free of interference, unless you put the base station right next to another wireless component on the same frequency. The price is considerably
below competing products, but the sound quality is close, I can hear no difference in voice applications (though
I do not run a professional studio)

This wireless microphone system works well. It produces distortion free sound and a more defined frequency band; a high level of sound quality.

This was purchased for a church. Shortly after we started using these mikes, one of them fell in the babtistry. We took it out, let it dry out for 2 weeks, and it still works like a charm! Sound quality is good, range is good, price is a great value. The microphones actually feel quite soild, of a good build quality. Would buy again if the need for more microphones arose.

I had no troubles. Worked very well right out of the box and is a fair price. Solved a problem for our group meetings with some easy Amazon purchase. Recommend this item.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nady DKW Duo Wireless Mic - good value, November 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nady DKW-DUO Dual Channel VHF Hand-Held Microphone System (Channel P/R)
I purchased the Nady DKW Duo VHF Wireless Microphone system via Amazon from Musiciansfriend.com. Overall, it's been a good value.

Musiciansfriend processed my order immediately and the item was shipped the same day that I ordered. I was very pleased with their service, and actually ordered another item from them a week later and got the same great service. I would rate Musiciansfriend.com "5 stars"/Outstanding for their great service, great prices, and great product selection for musicians.

Nady's DKW Duo VHF Wireless Mic system is a great value at a purchase price of just $39.95. The system comes with two wireless mics running on separate channels, and a receiver that plugs into your PA system via a single 1/4" jack. Each channel has a separate gain control.

We use the microphone for an evening class taught in a school cafeteria and the system is in use around 17 hours per week by the class instructor.

PROS:
- Set up is fast and easy.
- The mics work well within the cafeteria, and we have not had any problems with RF interference.
- Range is good. No dropouts so far from distances up to 75' - we have not tested over farther distances
- Mic battery life is good. The 9V battery in the wireless mic lasts around 2 weeks. we haven't tested the battery life in the receiver as we're using the AC adapter.
- Gain control on the receiver gives us enough flexibility. Other reviewers said the gain was not high enough, but it's been fine when used in conjunction with the gain controls on our portable PA system.
- these mics are pretty good about not having feedback. The only time we've gotten feedback is if the mic is immediately in front of the speaker and pointed to the speaker.

CONS:
- mics are pretty flimsy as can be expected for the price. Our instructor drops them regularly (usually when the mic rolls off the table and falls on the concrete floor); the first mic broke after 3 weeks (after around 20 drops). Luckily, the system has two mics and our instructor is being more careful.
- we had some intermittent distortion the first few times we used the system; through experimentation we learned that you need to orient the receiver and mic to provide a line of sight. The distortion was being caused if the receiver was on the floor or line of sight was blocked by a concrete wall. It works well if the receiver is at least table height and the speaker is standing or sitting.
- the mic lacks a mute button, as can be expected for the price.

Overall, the performance has exceeded expecations for the price, and the limitations are also acceptable to our classes given the price. When the second mic breaks, we'll probably order a new system since its only $39.95.
