Good deal,

I have instructed drivers in Time Trial events with this unit, and have found it very useful. This is the lowest price I've seen.
One word of caution though -- when shutting down, don't pull the headset out of your helmet, take your helmet off with the headset in it still and plenty of slack on the wires. Pulling the headset out of your helmet tends to weaken then seperate the wires in the earpiece, and this happens quickly.

THe Nady PMC-2X intercom system is nearly unusable....no matter how low the volume is set it picks-up the noise from the engine and cuts-out. What I've read on the internet forums is true... This is a product to avoid.

Nady PMC-2X intercom,
This review is from: Nady PMC-2X Driver-to-Passenger Motorcycle Intercom (Electronics)
Received as a gift. The unit worked somewhat for about 1-1/2 hours of careful use then one of the headsets failed. Nady promised a replacement on July 26 but did not replace the unit. Nady ignored about 5 inquiries about why the unit was not replaced. I would avoid any item made by this company.

As an instructor at a driving school, I've used this Nady unit for a few years to communicate between driver and instructor through the helmets. It works fine, even in open cars. The controls work out well. The headsets are durable, even when the students rip the headphone out of their helmets by the cord. The headsets have actually lasted longer than the unit itself. The unit didn't start to go out, it would create a loud screeching sound in which I had to hold onto the inputs in case it happened again. Now, about three years later, it works about 70% of the time. I keep it as a backup, but have since upgraded to a Chatterbox unit. But for the price, and length of time I've used the Nady unit, it has worked out well.

This is a piece of broken junk,
This review is from: Nady PMC-2X Driver-to-Passenger Motorcycle Intercom (Electronics)
At best when this thing first arrived you could get some sound out of it, but it was always intermittent due to loose headset connectors and very cheap battery connectors that kept bending and losing contact with the batteries. Now it is broken as I can't get any sound out of it whatsoever. The last time it worked, the windscreen flew off one of the mics since they are so poorly attached. Complete junk and I would never buy one of their products again. It is not even worth me contacting customer sevice since the product is so poorly made I wouldn't want another one.

The first one sent to me did't work at all. The replacement worked - but only when standing still. As soon as we were underway, the static was so bad that we couldn't hear each other. Not what they said it was so I'm still looking....

I am really impressed at the clarity and utility of this communication device. When I first opened the package and installed the batteries, nothing happened, but turned out the batteries included with the kit were dead. After swapping out the batteries with some high quality duracells, it really worked excellent, both inside my full face helmet and in on my girlfriend's 3/4 one. The belt clip was somewhat defective, kept sliding off the device, so I usually just put it in my pocket. It works excellently to about 45 mph on my kawasaki vulcan with a windshield. After that the clarity gets progressively worse, until at about 55 or 60mph it is too staticy to hear anything. So for going around town, or short bursts on the highway especially at low speed, I have found this to be wonderful. It is very clear and so it doesn't bother you're hearing after prolonged use. I would definitely recomend this to anyone.

Positive Product,
This review is from: Nady PMC-2X Driver-to-Passenger Motorcycle Intercom (Electronics)
I think they work very well, especially considering the low price. Around town the wife and I have no problem communicating. On the highway (75-80 mph) it gets a little difficult to hear, but not impossible. I wouldn't want to use them without a full face helmet though; with the visor up there is some wind noise in the microphone. They fit well in both our HJC and Joe Rocket helmets. Didn't need to use the velcro, slid perfectly through the slot in the pad around the strap. We have used them three times and at this point I'd say the quality of the product is good, but time will tell how long they'll hold up

I've used Nady helmet intercoms for years as a high-speed driving instructor and they're basically overpriced junk due to very poor build quality. They are very expensive. I have many spare parts and have re-soldered and re-wired the units to keep the earpieces working. The earpiece wires are frail and EXTREMELY low quality. The solders in the unit itself fail where the earpiece plugs in and then you get intolerable noise and feedback. Unless you're very good with a soldering gun, avoid them!

As an high-performance DE instructor for Porsche Club of America it is very important to be able to provide verbal direction and feedback to my students. I needed to replace my old helmet communicator so started asking my peers and shopping on-line for a new communicator. The Nady PMC-2X that I found at Amazon.com fits the bill perfectly. The price is right, about $50 bucks. There are lots of units out ther for alot more money with lots of features but for my in-car needs this unit hit the mark. Amazon shipped it within 24 hours and I had it within about 2 days. It is easy to use, just put in batteries and turn it on. Audio quality is great, no more shouting to be heard over engine noise or wind from the open window even at speeds > 120mph at Watkins Glen. I would recommend this unit to anyone using it for in-car purposes. Since I don't ride a motorcycle I cannot comment on how well it works in open air. My guess is that it would be fine, particularly if used in a full-faced helmet. Give it a try.
