4.0 out of 5 stars A "Klutz" Inspiration: Great Artworks on fingers and toes!

We found this kit when Amanda, (age 11) was birthday shopping for her sister Kris's 10th birthday. We have had good luck with the "Klutz" series, and this kit was no exception.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work too well
Nail Art is a great idea and the book has many cute and creative nail projects. However, we have found that it is very hard to duplicate the designs in the book. My daughter, age 10, can't do it herself. I also have a hard time. Then, when you finally get something you like, the polish peels right off. Peel-off polish is a fantastic concept, but it would be better if it...

The Polish that comes with the kit is easily peeled off. This can be an advantage or disadvantage, depending on your point of view. It does make changing the nail fashions quicker and easier. The polish was a good consistency for nail artwork, but any good cosmetic brand of nail polish will work.

The real bonus here was the inspiring book of designs, which contained easy-to- follow instructions for decorating nails with whimsical designs. There were ideas for the American Flag, paw prints, ladybugs, flowers, holiday designs and many, many more. My favorite was this adorable little "optical illusion" snake which seems to be crawling across your toes, when you paint it using all 5 toenails!
For preteens, especially artistically inclined girls, this kit was a great source of entertaining ideas.

I definitely recommend it. It's very good for ages 9-13. Kris loved receiving it for her birthday, and she even gets to use it sometimes, when Amanda isn't busy studying the book for new ideas!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gift..., July 7, 2000
This review is from: Nail Art (Spiral-bound)
This is a cute book. It has hundreds of designs. It even tells you how to mix colors. The designs are great, even though some of them are crazy (Like the one of a mouth)This book will show you how to have beautiful nails in no time. I also like this book because it goes step by step in each of the designs. The nail colors are cute, too!

My daughter, age 10, can't do it herself. I also have a hard time. Then, when you finally get something you like, the polish peels right off. Peel-off polish is a fantastic concept, but it would be better if it at least lasted a few hours. We love the concept, but I rated it a 2 because it really isn't usable. It's also expensive, so I feel it is a waste of your money.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Nail Art (Spiral-bound)
This book was fun, and I use in for different occasions. I suggest that you should buy this for anyone older then 9 or 10, because some of the designs are kind of difficult. The nail polish that comes in the set peels of in a few hours, but if you mess up you can just peel it off. I used a clear overcoat if I liked what I had done and depending of how many coats you put on, it would last longer. The nail polish in this package also comes of really easily so there aren't any huge messes if you spill it, but, for me, it seems impossible for it to spill.

4.0 out of 5 stars Creative ideas, May 26, 2005

My 11 year old daughter wanted this and has had a great time trying out the many different ideas for nail designs. I couldn't be happier about the book. The nail polish, however, peels off too easily. It comes off in the shower, or just under very normal playing conditions. As a previous reviewer said, this can be an advantage or disadvantage. No struggling with the nail polish remover to get something off. It's just frustrating when she's worked so hard to come up with something pretty and it falls off before she's had a chance to enjoy it. Plan to buy some other nail polish to use with this fantastic book if you want the designs to last.

My 5 year old and 3 year old twins love to have their nails polished. The book has some nice ideas to create on a small nails. It suggest the use of a toothpick to make small designs. I purchased an embossing tool at the craft store that seems to work better. I think it is a little too busy to decorate all your nails as demonstrated in the book, we only decorate ring fingers and big toes. The most popular design has been the flower. We add a rhinestone in the center for sparkle. The paint in the kit dissolves with water, so if you really like your design, add some clear polish on top.

4.0 out of 5 stars great fun, July 6, 2007
This review is from: Nail Art (Spiral-bound)
Great fun! The book has some great ideas that we used at my five year old's birthday party. Quite a hit! The yellow polish arrived dried out, so I had to give the product only 4 stars, but I figure the polish is easily replaceable. My 2 1/2 year old son wanted his nails painted too; thankfully the polish works great on skin also (and is washable with soap and water or even a baby wipe) and he settled for a rocket and airplane on the top of his feet(those ideas are in the book too).

4.0 out of 5 stars nice but polish is chalky, July 19, 2005
This review is from: Nail Art (Spiral-bound)
the polish is chalky and comes off in hours or maybe a day. Maybe that's a good thing since my daughter only wants to polish her own nails/toes. I let her use the kit with her friends- outside- and they spilled polish but it wiped RIGHT OFF the table (plastic)and even came off the garage floor with a quick wipe. Good step by step directions for some cute designs in here too. you probably need a thinner brush to really have the look they suggest, but i had one from Michael's we used. FUN GIFT

My daughter is 7 years old and loves this book. It comes full of ideas and are pretty easy to draw. i am no artist and yet i can manage to draw whatever pictures they illustrate! after putting a clear coat over our pictures the nail polish does not chip or come off easily at all!
