I have never had long nails. My nails have always been super weak and I could literally peel layers off. I finally broke down and got acrylic nails. One time I was traveling for business and couldn't find a nail shop for a fill. I had to take off the acrylics myself. When I finally got around to a nail salon when I made it home, the technician told me about Nail Tek. I thought, yea right, another product that won't work. But she was insistent about how well this stuff worked and that if she was wrong, she would give me a free full set of acrylics. Well, within 2 weeks my fingernails were already stronger. For the first time since I could remember my nails were just barely above the tips of my fingers. Now 4 months later it looks like I have acrylic nails. Not only do they look awesome, but they are as strong as acrylics!

WARNING: This review will be long. If you'd prefer to avoid my rambling, I will state the necessary information about this product now: 1.) My nails have been weak and peeling my whole life, and they are now strong and stable. 2.) The combination of the Foundation II and Intensive Therapy II has worked better than any other nail treatment I've tried. 3.) While the Foundation II can get pretty gloopy after a little while, it is absolutely worth a repurchase when this occurs. 4.) By using these two in conjunction with one another, my nails have grown out past my fingertips for the first time in my life! 5.) Buy it! You won't regret it.

Now, on to my life story. I have always been a nail fiend. I love painting them, trying (and failing) nail art, experimenting with gels, acrylics and press-ons. Part of the reason I was always trying new things, even as a little girl, was that my nails were soft and peel-y. They always peeled in big sheets or tore off at the tip. This started me on the path to nail enhancements, which was a BIG mistake.

I loved press-on nails. I used them countless times because I could do them myself and they were cheap. Unfortunately, I didn't want to wait and soak them in acetone to remove them. Instead, I figured chipping away at them and pulling was a better idea. Needless to say, this ruined my nails. I then tried at-home acrylics kits. These never turned out the way I wanted, so I ended up pulling these off too. (Not the smartest nail clipper in the...never mind). I then tried gel polish, because regular nail polish always peeled off of my nails in sheets. I got sick of the gel polish, and guess what I did! Yep, peeled that too.

At this point, my already weak and peeling nails were destroyed.

NAIL TEK products are the answer to my life-long problem of paper-thin, peeling, ridged nails that would tear even with the gentlest use of my hands. To add to the problem, my work in patient care required hand washing at least 25 times/day. Until the mid-80s, I had probably purchased one of every brand which claimed to solve the problem - nothing was worth the trip to the store! For the next 20 years I relied on acrylic nails to overcome the embarrassment of my natural state. Budgetary restrictions led me to remove the acrylics, and again, explore nail strengthening products in April 2010. A thorough web search discovered NAIL TEK Ridge Filler Foundation II and Intensive Therapy II. What followed was amazing! - literally, within 2 weeks, my nails became dramatically more resistant to tears; within one month, my nails were strong and markedly smoother (ridges were disappearing). No longer do I have to repair breaks, splits, tears 5-10 times/day! One weekly manicure session is all I need now. NAIL TEK will be my steadfast "friend" forever.

Normally Nailtek polishes cost $10 a bottle. This is not only quite a bit less then that but also comes with a second bottle of foundation for free! :) What a great deal! I do admit that I don't especially care for the foundation (it's pretty thick and doesn't stay on well) but the polish that I paid for is welllll worth it (just don't get the citra! it's not so nice)

I had acrylic nails for years, off and on. Every time I took them off, I dreaded the long process of getting my nails healthy again. I started using Nail Tek and noticed they were growing out quicker and stronger. I continued to use after my nails had grown out completely, and noticed they were growning stronger and longer than ever before. I no longer wear acrylic nails b/c I can get my nails to grown long by using this product.

I'm really really bummed with this product. All of the reviews (I looked at multiple website's reviews) said that this was the best product for strengthening nails. I've never had a problem growing my nails but they always flake off and break at the corners and sides so I end up with broken/jagged nails and they never get as long as I'd like. When I bought this stuff I trimmed all of my nails down and filed them to a rounded square. I followed the directions exactly and applied a coat every day for a week and then took it all off and started over. It seemed to be working the first 2 weeks but my nails were also short. Then disappointingly they started breaking and flaking on the sides just like before. Nailtek might have strengthened them a little but I think it was just all the layers of polish that made it appear to be stronger. I'll still continue to use it for a while at least since I think having a few coats of it will make my nails less likely to break, but it wasn't the miracle product that I hoped for. Also it kind of freaks me out that there's formaldehyde in it, which is a known carcinogen and according to my University of Michigan anatomy professor, you should stay away from at all costs. I guess just make sure to use it with a window open!
