"Nails" as in "tough as" is the nickname of the scrappy lead-off hitter for the Mets, one of the heroes of the 1986 post-season. His two-run homer won the third game of the playoffs against Houston when the New York team was desperate for a victory. Dykstra's account of the championship season is not without humor, a gritty retelling of events through the eyes of the unconventional center-fielder. However, while salty language may be expected, mention must be made of the continual gratuitous use of four-letter words, which apparently are a major part of Dykstra's vocabulary. New York libraries should have a demand for this book, but it is recommended with reservations. Jo DeLapo, Queens Lib., New York
