Ok, so I got this product in an attempt to get rid of massive loads of hair painlessly. This is my opinion based on my experience with it:
First impression, yes it works (very well, actually), but you must use a good amount in each area you want to remove hair. I tried a thin layer first, and got hardly anything off. In the end, I used about a whole bottle for one complete hair removal. Another thing I've noticed is that a lot of people complain about the smell. Honestly, it's not that bad. If you've ever been in a hair salon, you've already experienced it, and while it's strong at first, you get used to it in under a minute (don't recommend having your mouth open though...) After you've placed the stuff on, you're going to be waiting a while to get it off, so bring something to entertain yourself. Staring at the ceiling for 8-15 minutes is not an enjoyable practice for me. At the same time, however, PLEASE bring a timer in with you. Set it for 8 minutes, and try to wipe a small amount with a damp rag after it dings. If nothing comes off (or little does), try again after 9 minutes, 10 minutes, 11 minutes, etc. Point is DO NOT LEAVE IT ON PAST 15 MINUTES!!! If you do, YOU WILL GET CUT AND/OR BURNED!! (especially if you have placed it on rather sensitive areas). If you do leave it on though, and get hurt, don't worry, it only lasts for the rest of that day tops (it's a good idea to do this when you don't have anywhere to go), and while I'm on this subject, DO NOT place any kind of cream or anything to remove the burning sensation!!!! I did (stupidly) and it was like throwing a bunch of brush soaked in oil on the fire. I literally could not move for a good minute because it hurt so badly... Something else I must stress is that you test it in a small area and wait at least a week before you go ahead and start going for the whole removal. I didn't do this, and while I was fine at first, 5-6 days later I got some really bad acne in the areas I applied this stuff. I bathe regularly, sometimes twice a day, and it only occurred in the areas I placed this stuff. Now this may just be some freakish reaction that only I will have to this stuff, but I do recommend testing it to see how it will affect you before you place it all over your body (don't be stupid like me). One final remark is that it DOES NOT last 2 weeks. After 2-3 days I could noticeably see hair growing back in all the areas I had removed it from. Again, this may just be me, and maybe after multiple sessions it does get to this point, but based on my first experience I definitely think that the two week lapse that is advertised is a lie. Hope this helps!

This must be one of those items that works great for some people and horribly for others. I purchased this a little bit hesitently after reading the negative reviews, but eventually decided it was worth a shot.
I wanted to use this to get rid of the hair on my back. So I smeared it all over with some contortions and set a timer for 15 minutes. The smell at first wasn't bad at all, but it quickly turned into a nasty, chemical smell that reminded me of the perms my mom and sister did once. It wans't horribly overpowering though, just irritating. After the 15 minutes were up I used a washcloth and wiped all the hair off. It seemed to work best if you were slow and methodical in this step. I also found myself rinsing the washcloth often to get the hair off. Then I jumped in the shower and rinsed and washed with soap. In the end I ended up with a perfectly smooth, hairless back and zero irritation. So far its been a week and there is no stubble, so I'm happy with the results.

May not be for everyone but it worked for my son,

When my 18 year old son came home from college for Spring Break, he had a mission. He wanted to transform from "Big Foot's" cousin to "a dolphin with eyebrows". In other words, he wanted to get rid of some of his body hair. Now, I didn't think it looked too bad but since he was determined to get it taken care of I figured I should at least guide the efforts. The first stop was the local salon for a chest wax. It worked great but according to him it was very painful and he broke out in a rash that night. Benadryl cream helped but it took a few days to go away. His dermatologist's office recommended a product like Nair so the next time I was at the Pharmacy I picked some up. He carefully read the instructions and tried some on a small area on his ankle. That seemed to work well so he did the rest of his legs today and it worked fine. I have no doubt that it may "burn" some people but for whatever reason my son's skin did not react negatively to it. So if you're thinking about using this product DO A TEST AREA FIRST! That's the only way to make sure you won't react negatively to the product. The smell is no more offensive than shaving cream so just imagine 5 guys shaving at once and that's about how it smells. Get lots of towels - preferably towels that mom doesn't mind ruining a bit and follow the instructions. Good luck.

You put it on, you wait 8-10 minutes and you wipe it with a damp old t-shirt and you are hair free for 2 weeks and on the third week the hair slowly starts growing back. Even my wife that is used to the salon methord of hair removing says it's better for doing larger areas all at once (i.e. arms, legs, etc..)

Horrible.,

Do not buy this product. The smell isn't all that bad at first but once it burns your hair it stinks. It is very very messy and it hurts if you leave it on longer then 4minutes but if you don't it wont get all the hairs. I figured what the hell I'll try something other then shaving. The first time using it on my chest and arms wasn't all that bad but then I used it the second time and now I have red bumps all over my arms and chest. It isn't a rash either it is more of acne but I don't have an acne problem so it has something to do with irritation of the skin from this product. I suggest shaving or using wax.

Nair Hair remover for men,

I have had the same experience as the other reviewer on this site. The smell of the product is horrible, and I too had red bumps all over the site where the hair was. My physician suggested it might be heat rash, but I don't agree. It is definitely a reaction to the product and I will never use it again.

Use strategically on hard-to-clip areas,
By Brian (New York City) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Nair Hair Remover for Men, Body Cream, 8 oz.
First off, this product is a bit stinky and you might need to experiment with the correct amount to get it to work adequately.
Don't expect this method to replace all other shaving tools. It's better to use it strategically. Use it in areas that you have difficulty getting to with other methods. It's easy enough to wet your body, smooth the cream on thickly, wait several minutes (experiment on duration) and then take a shower with a washcloth. Its kind of freaky to wipe hair off with the washcloth the first time! You do have to use a significant amount for good results so I recommend using it only on places where its tricky to use clippers. Otherwise, you might use a lot of this product! Be careful not to use on "sensitive" areas as the directions state and you'll be fine. For me, a little talc helps afterwards...especially under the arms.

I have just used the product and i think it works exactly as advertised. I would like to address some concerns that other readers have noted:
1. Smell- it does not smell good; it smells like burning hair. Jump in the shower and wash it off (you should do this anyway as it is probably not good to leave on your skin). The product is not marketed as a fragrance product so i don't feel that this detracts from it. 2. Sensitive skin- i do not have sensitive skin so i could not comment on this. But for me, i get no irritation. But try a small portion on a covered body part just to be sure. 3. Other than that, the product works great. Smooth skin in as long as it takes you to lather it on, wait 10 min, then take a shower.

This product is a great alternative to shaving. It also produces a smooth result. And for that guy who used it on his "nether regions", did you read the product directions and warnings? It says not to use it there, stupid. Don't blame others for your mistakes and inability to read.

Nair Hair Remover Body Cream,

This review is from: Nair Hair Remover Body Cream for Men, 8-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
The Nair Hair Remover Body Cream was somewhat a new trial by fire for me, I had decided to forgo shaving my chest for Spring Break in hopes of finding a hair removal cream that would work for me. I cannot complain about this product, it worked exactly as described. The bottle in my opinion only contains enough cream for about 5 uses (if used as described by the instructions), but this is dependent on your physique. The only piece of info I wish they had put down on the label would be to use the cream ONLY ONCE IN EVERY 24 HOUR PERIOD. I ended up applying a second layer of cream after I had removed the first one and found that my skin could not handle it, thus I had a few chemical burns for about 4 days. Otherwise the Nair Hair Removal Body Cream worked like a charm, it was easy, quick, and effortless to clean.
Pros: Quick Relatively Simple Great alternative to spending a lot of time shaving in the shower Cons: Has the potential to chemical burn skin if applied more than once in a 24 hour period Endstate: If you are hesitant on buying this product, I would definitely suggest that you at least try it once. I found it to be a perfect alternative for shaving. |
