One Of The Best Synth-Pop Albums Ever....................., January 7, 2002
This review is from: Naive Art (Spec Edit) (Audio CD)
This Album has to be one of my favorate albums that I own. As a big synth-pop fan, I got my self into Red Flag late. I have been a new-waver for over 15 years and have to say that I am a bigger freak now than I was back in high school. Bands like Depeche Mode, New Order, OMD, The Cure, and Camouflage, Allphavile, and etc.... kept me going in life. I didnt have much to live for other than my music. After all these times, I am still the same listening to the same music and loving it more than ever before. RED FLAG is my new love. After finally getting this album, I was stunned to hear how great every song in this abum sounds. Most of us have heard songs like "Russian Radio" and "If I Ever" but may have not really known who it was by. I rank it as one of my favorates CD's that I own. I own over 500 CD's and most of them are from the synth-pop bands and have to say that my collection was incomplete with out RED FLAG's "Naive Art". This band sounds somewhere in between 'DEPECHE MODE' and 'CAMOUFLAGE'. Songs like "If I Ever", Russian Radio", "Give Me Your Hand", ."All Roads Lead To You", "Count To Three", "Broken Heart" and etc.............will kick start you heart beat into over drive as your heart beat doubles from the rush that this band gives. Every song in this album is a smashing hit and should be ingraved from its Beauty. ONE OF THE BEST SYNTH-POP ALBUMS EVER MADE............... There are lots of remixes of the hit songs "Russian Radio" and also "If I Ever" that will keep you busy dancing for a long time.

Pure synth-pop., July 12, 2002
This review is from: Naive Art (Spec Edit) (Audio CD)
One of the brightest work of electronic pop is here in Naive Art by San Diego, CA based duo Red Flag. This album is a nice collection of pure and melodic electronic pop. If you have been into groups like Depeche Mode, Camouflage, New Order etc. then you will enjoy this album. Red Flag's style of electronic pop is remeniscent of the the music by the group's mentioned with a slightly different twist. This album is a re-released version of Red Flag's debut with the exception that it has two extra bonus tracks. This is great music for inspiration and to dance to. It offers a little bit of everything for everyone.

Cool machinery techno-pop, January 17, 2002
This review is from: Naive Art (Spec Edit) (Audio CD)
Probably the best -if not the only- band to come out of San Diego, CA, Red Flag's Naive Art has a very distinct machinery-techno like sound and it worked extremely well. The songs, both lyrically and musically, are quasi-reminiscent of Depeche Mode in that it is slightly melancholic and most songs are in the minor key. The techno-pop music is very upbeat and dancy, notwithstanding it's semi-"dark" nature and the hooks, though simple, are poignant and memorable. One of Naive Art's cons is that there isn't a whole lot of variation: Most of the tracks don't sound very distinct from each other, but still it's a cool album and brings a lot of late '80s nostalgia back to me.
