Biography

KMFDM is a European industrial rock band formed in 1984. The main man is Sascha Konietzko, who is joined by a series of rotating musicians and guest artists.

Since their creation they have released sixteen studio albums, from their debut Opium (1984) to their most recent outing in 2007, Tohuvabohu. Their frantic release schedule is matched by their committed touring ethos; they spend much of their… Read more in Amazon's KMFDM Store

4.0 out of 5 stars And so the goodness begins.., June 10, 2005
This review is from: Naive / Hell to Go (Audio CD)
Naive is probably the first of the albums that started to truly define KMFDM's sound. It does have some filler, but songs like Virus, Go To Hell and Piggybank could practically sum up KMFDM's dancin'-Ministry style right there. Their later albums like Angst, Nihil and Attak have better technology and many different influences that make them better, but this is where KMFDM started off on the right foot, and so far they haven't yet stopped.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of KMFDM's best, June 21, 2000
This review is from: Naive / Hell to Go (Audio CD)
This is a pretty great album. it has its weak spots, but it also has some of KMFDM's best songs ever. Some of the songs are funky in a KMFDMish sort of way, such as Naive, Friede, and Piggybank... sometimes they almost make me want to get up and dance! Which is odd for KMFDM. Then some of the songs are just bone-crushin' ultra heavy beat, such as Leibesleid (the best track on the album, IMHO) and Virus. As mentioned, there are a few stinkers... Disgust is a big wad of distortion, and Achtung is just bad bad bad. Pretend it isn't there. But by all means, buy the album!

4.0 out of 5 stars Review of Naive/Hell To Go - and the story behind it..., February 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Naive / Hell to Go (Audio CD)
Before going any further, you should know that this disc is NOT the original version of NAIVE. That Cd is nigh impossible to find and is highly sought after by all KMFDM fans. However, this remixed version is still worth buying, and is among the best of the group's earlier works. [All the tracks that don't have a '*** mix' after their names are identical to the ones off the orig. Naive. The reason for the remixes was that the first version of 'Lieibslied' contained liberal sampling from Carl Orff's 'O Fortuna'(from Carma Burana)w/o permission. [This is why the remixed version of this song on Hell To Go is entitled 'Infringement mix.']) All the tracks are great, although recent converts expecting the same sound as "CURSE" will be a bit disappointed. Personally, I've never heard a bad KMFDM album, although their overall sound gets 'crunchier' as time goes on. To get a good idea of this, first listen to "MONEY", then "NIHIL", then "CURSE" If you like these CD's, you'll probably like them all. I expect their final album, "ADIOS" ,to be their best yet.
