When I read Jocelyn's books to my children (this one and the one about Bessie Sue), they were disappointed that I had only two of her books to read to them. The references to God and to good morals reinforced what I have been trying to teach them.

This truly is a book for all ages. It has a unique approach to the ABC's, showing that not only can letters stand for objects, but, more importantly, for attributes. A young rich girls learns a very important lesson from Naji, but not in a preachy manner. I would read this over and over again to my children.

It is clear that the author is instilling morality in her work, "Naji's Treasures." Patience, sharing, and gratitude for the things one has are but a few traits that are embedded in the book. I like the choice of names and explanation of their meanings. I learned two words from the book. Some may raise flag for long words like perseverance. Being an educator myself, I believe that the author is enriching the reader's vocabulary in a time when enunciation, proper grammar, and spelling are left to Siri and spelling checkers. I liked the idea of Naji's reciprocal listing Zaynah's inventory as a tool to augment the alphabetical library of the reader. Like Bessie Sue, Naji's Treasures testifies to the author's experience in reaching the children's/readers' heart. I recommend this book to be read by guardians and educators to the children under their care and leadership. More congratulations to Ms. Poesnecker.

Being an avid believer of internal or built-in rewards of good deeds, and blessings that we all have in different ways - I think, this cute little book can assist in healing the consumerist behavior that many young and old suffer from nowadays.

A great lesson on how to count our blessings and be happy.
The greatest joys of life exist within ourselves and do not need any money to be enjoyed.
I love the combination of drawings and pictures - an intelligent blend.
What a great way to learn our ABC's!
