Been a Nak owner since the mid 1980's when I had a Nak TD700 in my car. Paired with a/d/s/ 320i and 300i powered with 2 Nak PA300II amps. Sold the a/d/s 300i and 1 amp to a good friend since my car was totalled in an accident and picked up a Toyota pickup. The TD700 died and replaced with a Nak CD45z which the laser just crashed after 10 years. Replaced the unit with a Sony CDXGT930UI and couldn't make the sound even come close to a Nak. Cranked up, the Sony made my wife's and my ears ache so I pulled the unit out and replaced with the Nakamichi CD400 purchased from Woofers, Etc. through Amazon.com. It sounds awesome and still pushing the 20+ year old a/d/s/ speakers and Nakamichi PA300II amp with pure clean sound. Smooth jazz to heavy metal, its like heaven. Waiting to put an Infinity Basslink loaded subwoofer within the next month and the system should be complete. So happy Nakamichi is still producing great sounding products but the cost is 1/3 of what they used to cost. I'm forever a Nak fanboy and will never get anything else.

There are very few aftermarket car stereos available now that don't look like they were designed by a 14-year old, so if you want something that fits tastefully into a nice older european car, there are almost no options. The CD400 fits the bill. Sounds very nice, and has a nice, straightforward operation. The display and button illumination color can be switched between orange and green. It doesn't really have any more features than a typical 10-15 year old unit (no bluetooth, ipod control, etc) but does have a rear aux input, which is all I really need.
I was slightly nervous about purchasing from an unknown supplier, but when I did have a problem with the stereo - which wasn't really a fault with either the unit or (totally) myself - the design inside the cars dash was blocking all cooling slots on the unit - Woofers Etc really did give very good support, they investigated it thoroughly and called me to keep me informed. I was very pleased with their service.
