Dylan Rosser: The Male Nude As Art, December 15, 2011
This review is from: Naked (Bruno Gmunder Verlag) (Hardcover)
Dylan Rosser was born in South Africa, became well known for his graphic design talents and in 1998 moved to London where he began his very successful career in photography. Rosser photographs male models in both New York City and Los Angeles and his works have been published in tow highly honored books - X-POSED and RED. In NAKED Rosser seems to be gradually eliminating supportive props and themes and now an approach the male nude in full color, beautifully detailed images that are likely some of the finest and most refined works in this genre.
Rosser uses minimal backgrounds for his photographs - at time the background is simple white space, while at other times he uses a burnished wet silver sheen that sets of skin tonalities magnificently well. Other images are incidental 'sets', such as empty gyms or deserted buildings or the mere suggestion of a support system such as a corner, a wall, a couch, a ladder. From these setting he brings in a bevy of incredibly well sculpted models - alone and at times with another model - and from this combination of lighting, pristine judgment in composition, and extraordinarily virile and handsome men he makes images that are at one both art and sensuality. The manner in which he engages the models' eyes or paints their bodies with water, light and shadow is nothing less than fine art.
There is a sense of intimacy here, a sense that Rosser seems to invite us, the viewer, into the arena of his edification of the male form. it is a very tempting invitation and one that will please the eyes and thoughts of the reader. Grady Harp, December 11

Beautiful Book, January 24, 2012
This review is from: Naked (Bruno Gmunder Verlag) (Hardcover)
Not only is this book beautifully bound, it is filled with beautiful photographs of some of the most handsome and athletic men I have seen in a book of this sort. The images really convey the beauty and masculinity of the human form.

The best yet from Mr. Rosser, December 4, 2011
This review is from: Naked (Bruno Gmunder Verlag) (Hardcover)
Each photo in this book has a wonderful pair of characteristics: utter simplicity and intense eroticism. Rosser's ability to create the former and to elicit the latter from his models is amazing. No disappointments here, quite the contrary.
