5.0 out of 5 stars Great tool for at home learning!
I've seen this DVD and have found it to be very useful. One of the best features about the DVD is that you can learn at your own pace. It can be intimidating to try experimenting with different wines if you're not sure what to look for and this made it very easy to try new ones out at home.

I've now used it to host my own wine tasting parties and I'm looking forward...

1.0 out of 5 stars Naked Ian: Introduction to Much Wining About Nothing
This is my first review on Amazon. I buy a lot of DVDs, but I never write reviews. This DVD is so bad, that I felt obligated to warn others not to waste their money. If you want to learn about wine -- please don't buy this DVD. If you want to laugh/own possibly the worst DVD ever produced -- go for it.

To begin with, the whole program is accompanied by Mexican...

A "How To" drink, serve, buy and enjoy wine DVD! An informative untintimidating journey. Ian White shares his expanded knowledge in a fun, upbeat presentation. He expands on wines from Chardonnay to Merlot to Zinfandel, a good broad perpespective on wine varietals. The DVD offers lots of good, common-sense advice on simple tasting, how to buy wine and how to taste and enjoy wine.

A good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars THANK YOU for my gift Susan!, January 6, 2005

I received this as a Christmas gift along with a wine basket, what fun! FUN MUSIC, nice locations.

I had some friends over and after dinner we popped in the DVD and had our own little wine tasting. Each person brought a different bottle and we all participated in our own learning experience.

Since I am a novice in the wine world, Ian's presentation was very enlightening. I do feel as if I can find my way through a dinner paring now, and do it with ease. Actually having the wine there and tasting it as Ian presented it was a great hands on learning experience.

If you are trying to understand this fast growing world of wine, TUNE INTO this DVD! You'll be glad you did.

Be creative and make a fun night of this with friends.

Hello wine lovers and ladies! I am a wine lover and I am a woman. I have to say I enjoyed this DVD because of it's well formatted, informative structure. Ian White presents the basic world of wine in a way that I could understand and grasp as a novice. Simple, clean information was easy to retain and understand.

Mr. White is fun, trendy and obviously well rounded in the wine world.

If you want something to help you out chosing a wine for your next dinner party, elegant dinner out or just having friends together this DVD will be the right pick for you.

Fun, informative, not a "snoozer". I say check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Educational Tool, November 1, 2005
This review is from: The Naked Grape: Introduction to Wine (DVD)
I, like most of you out there, have been a casual wine drinker for my whole adult life. I know what I like, but am always open to trying a new label, vintage or variety, usually on the recommendation of a friend.

The Naked Grape came to me by way of recommendation, as well. I have watched this educational DVD so many times, if it were a VHS tape I'd have worn it out by now. There are many great suggestions and educational points presented in an informal and pleasant manner. It is like taking an adult wine education class from a world renound wine expert, for a small fraction of the cost. It is clear Ian White knows from which he speaks and enjoys emparting his knowlege to others.

Because of this video I feel I am more adept at choosing a good wine, as well as, knowledgeble about the characteristics of many different varieties.

I would recommend this DVD to anyone who is interested in becoming a better educated and there for a more content wine consumer.

As a complete novice I found this video extremely useful. I suspect the unhappy San Francisco viewer drank toooo much wine before even popping this informative video in.

It is easy to follow with different sections on specific whites and specific reds, as well as general information. Ian takes a lot of the intimidation that we have out of wine and shows you how to really find things you ENJOY. I think one of the most valuable things I took away from this video was feeling confident that "a good wine is one that you like." When you are just learning it is easy to get intimidated by names, labels, prices, grape varieties, etc.

I recommend this as great base to get you started and feel comfortable trying different wines. You'll learn A LOT and have fun doing it.

With the detailed menu on the DVD you can also use it to jump to a specific wine for a quick overview. We used it one night for little wine tasting party with friends. We skipped to the section on the specific wine we were trying. It's not too long and overwhelming, but gives a good frame for learning.
