More About the Author

My first experience of painting the nude was when I was sixteen. I instantly fell in love and the passion has stayed with me throughout my life. All the paintings for the last 10 years have been in black and white. Now I don't make color choices while I paint. When my mind is still and the brush is intuitive the work has it's own life.
The act of painting must be about honesty and honesty is only revealed through the intuitive act. So I paint.
Today's global society with it's preoccupation for cognitive analysis, motivated by commercial, reward is loosing the intrinsic human quality of intuition. The more intuition we loose the greater the loss of life. Extinction is an internal and externally linked reality.

I love this book. Blanshard says "The act of painting must be about honesty. And honesty is only revealed by the intuitive act. So I paint."
Why haven't we seen the work of this amazing artist before? Some of his drawings are reminiscent of Brett Whiteley's ink drawings, which sell for thousands of dollars. Have a look at this book to see what I mean.
I have already contacted the artist to purchase an original, and would love to see an exhibition of his previous art. Thankyou Bruce Blanshard for your inspirational book, and for making your art so accessible.

The brush dips in the ink and as the line unravels the landscape of woman's body begins to appear. Oriental calligraphy and brush painting are usually thought of as visions of misty mountains inscribed with poetry and quiet contemplation. To this disciplined practice Blanshard has added no small amount of sensuality and fashioned an unbridled synthesis of his own. A beautiful book of drawings made by an artist whose work should be more well known. I will treasure my copy always.
