5.0 out of 5 stars An engaging and Godly discourse on forgiveness and self love, August 28, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Naked and Not Ashamed: We've Been Afraid to Reveal What God Longs to Heal (Paperback)
Nothing in my entire 45 years has done as much to free me from the horrible "secrets" I thought I had hidden. To sin is one thing; to remove yourself from God because of the guilt of your sin denies the very essence of why He came, died and rose. Thank you, Bishop Jakes, for helping me to see that even naked, with all of my sins exposed, I am still fearfully and wonderfully made, and deeply loved by God.

I believe that Bishop TD Jakes is one of the most influence minister in this day and time. I offen say if I was in Texas that Bishop Jakes would be my pastor. He has help me out in some many ways. The title of the book alone gave me to courage to stand, by itself "Naked and not ashamed" how many time spiritually and physically I was ashamed about things I did not want to be reveal. But I have learned just by read and listing to Bishop Jakes along with my favor my Pastor how to get over hurt and pain. Thanks Bishop Jakes because of minister such as yourself you have help me as well as other women to get over it and still be save.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tell us who you really are beneath your churchy look!, April 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Naked and Not Ashamed: We've Been Afraid to Reveal What God Longs to Heal (Paperback)
T D Jakes calls for believers to strip away all layers of superficiality, religious reasonings, and pious pretendings. We need to be real--to be honest before God and man. We have carefully hidden our struggles and paraded only our victories, but the whole country is falling asleep on parade!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cutting Through the Facade, May 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Naked and Not Ashamed: We've Been Afraid to Reveal What God Longs to Heal (Paperback)
T.D. Jakes brings home a winner with this call to openess. Jakes discusses the need for openess with God and fellow Christians. The title comes from Genesis when Adam and Eve were naked before God, and walked with God. Jakes uses this imagery to call us to a deeper relationship with God, by dropping our outward protections and being totally honest with where we really are in life. This challenge is not for the faint of heart, but for those seeking to go to the next level. The only way up is to strip down.

5.0 out of 5 stars T.D. touched me for the Master through Naked and Not Ashamed, May 29, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Naked and Not Ashamed: We've Been Afraid to Reveal What God Longs to Heal (Paperback)
BIG question, how could those two words ever be used together?! A dichomety, yet each page was written just for me. Seemed as if a personal "letter" was written to me. I highlight highpoints and the whole book is practically highlighted!! Only for those who are tired of the crinkly fig leaves that do such a poor job anyway!!

By A Customer
This review is from: Naked and Not Ashamed: We've Been Afraid to Reveal What God Longs to Heal (Paperback)
As a conservative Christian born and raised, reading this book helped me see just how much sin and shame i've been hiding. I now understand that Jesus loves me unconditionally and I don't have to hide what He already knows!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!, October 25, 2008
This review is from: Naked and Not Ashamed: We've Been Afraid to Reveal What God Longs to Heal (Paperback)
I don't know where to start with this book. This is obviously some of Pastor Jakes early work but it has the same fire that his later books have. This book has taught me how to open up more and stop trying hide behind what "looks appropriate" thereby keeping secrets unnecessarily and keeping me in bondage. No I don't share everything with everybody but I do have someone to which I go to now to hold me accountable no matter how bad, silly, or far fetched it may seem as well as someone who is supportive and in my corner when I can't see where I am going. Excellent book.
