4.0 out of 5 stars 3rd album is a good one - R.I.P November 17, 2010
Format:Audio CD
It's been a little over 4 years since his last solo and almost 3 years since his death, and we get to hear some nice unheard material from the Pimp. This is his 3rd (and probably his last solo - not to mention being part of 6 UGK group albums, 7 if you count 1988's "Banned" or evern their "Featuriong UGK album) I'd say it's about equal with his "Sweet James Jones Stories" and a little under his "Pimpalation" album, but still a nice 4 star album. With 13 songs, you get 1 near classic, 1 that's ok, the other 11 are good or real good songs. Guests are a little heavy, on all but 2 songs; but it's still nice to hear some new stuff from him. Production is decent as well. Cory Mo, Big E, DJ B-Do, & Steve Below each do 2 songs, Boi 1da, Jazze Pha, David Banner, Moose, and V Man each do 1. A ncie album to have form a legendary vet in the rap game, and one of the best ever to come out of the south.

#1 - 7 (him singing the whole song)
#2 - 8 (f/ Drake & Bun B)
#3 - 8.5 (f/ Chamillionaire -- good beat)
#4 - 8 (f/ Jazze Pha0
#5 - 8.5 (f/ Gator Main & E-40 -- nice beat, probably be a little better w/o the guests)
#6 - 8 (f/ Bun B & Young Jeezy -- kind of an annoying hook)
#7 - 8 (dirtier song f/ who else: Too $hort)
#8 - 8 (f/ Rick Ross & Slim Thug)
#9 - 8.5 (f/ Cory Mo, Hezeleo, Bank Roll Jones, Bub, Da UnderDawgs --- nice beat)
#10 - 9 (f/ Webbie & Lil Boosie -- tight beat)
#11 - 9.5 (f/ Da UnderDawgs -- tight beat)
#12 - 8.5 (f/ Bun B & J-Dawg -- nice beat)
#13 - 9 (tight dis song, though I don't know who it's directed towards)

5.0 out of 5 stars Pimp Game Never Died!!! October 19, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The final solo album from UGK co-founder, the late great Pimp C, leaves a lasting impression and serves as a representation of why Pimp C was so loved and revered. From the first track, Down 4 Mine, which sports a tune and groove that can only be described as country rap tunes and a soulful Pimp C harmonizing about some gangsta shhh, you just know that the album is about to ride out. And it does, beautifully. Pimp C delivers the lyrics as only he can about the vintage UGK topics over vintage UGK country rap tunes.

There are a few things that could be seen as (minor) problems with the cd and that's the presence of a few songs already released. However since nobody really heard XVII's album (sad but true...UGK alumni should check it out...one of Pimp C's artists), the presence of Massacre (a vicious assault on Lil Troy) is forgiven and the Pimp C rants tacked on to the end of that song make it worth it because after all he was one of the top must hear artists when they start ranting and talking (trash) on an interlude or interview. Same is true for Hit The Parking Lot which has been out a few years but never officially released.

Also the song featuring Drake is flat out terrible and out of place on the album. Keep in mind, I liked both of the collaborations with Drake on Bun B's album and like Drake as an artist but the song is just weak in general.

Anyway it's business as usual when it comes to friends featured and that includes Chamillionaire, Jazze Pha, E-40, Young Jeezy, Too Short, Rick Ross, Slim Thug, Cory Mo, Webbie, Lil Boosie, Hezeleo, Bankroll Jones & J-Dawg. David Banner, Steve Below, Cory Mo, and DJ B-Do amongst a few others get down behind the boards.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Naked Soul Of Sweet James Jones August 10, 2011
By yung
Format:MP3 Music
Rap-a-lot realeased 2 Pimp C albums before this one that even pimp said were ompaplation albums. On the track down 4 Mine he says that this is his first album but sadly it is still another compalation. Yes Pimp did record most of these tracks (probably) for this album but he passed before he could see this album be realesed. So this is yet again another album that rap-a-lot and hopefully Bun B threw together. This doesn't make this album bad but it's just to bad that we will never see a "real" pimp C album.

A good album but doesn't have as good of production as his own on his first two albums (Pimp doesn't produce any of the tracks)
Top 5:
Down 4 Mine
What Up? (featuring Bun B & Drake)
Fly Lady (featuring Jazze Pha)
Midnight (featuring Rick Ross & Slim Thug)
Believe in Me (featuring Ivory P., Cory Mo, Hezeleo, BankRoll Jones, Bub & Da Underdawgz)

5.0 out of 5 stars More bang for my buck. January 14, 2011
By S. Webb

I looked elsewhere for this CD and, where I could find it, it was crazy high. I got this for my daughter's father and he was so happy, and I got a great deal. If you like the original CD, then you'll love this one. I think he listens to this one more often than he does the original. For an item that was hard to find, Amazon gave me a great deal. My daughter's father is a die-hard UGK/Pimp C/Bun B fan, and this item was one of those gifts that made his Christmas very merry!
