2.0 out of 5 stars Premature publication......
Sorry but the latest edition is not really updated for 2004. The hotel is undergoing major renovations so the update is very premature. 2005 would have been better. Why the rush? A few new photos of the author and her sig/other and some small facts don't make the sale. We purchased the book at the hotel. If
you've been and got the first or second book, you're fine.

This book lives up to its name, but don't judge it by its cover. "The Naked Truth..." takes readers by the hand and leads them down the pebbled paths that wind through the resort with arguably the most devoted clientele in the world: Hedonism II. The cover of this book shows stick figures frolicking along. Perhaps this is because without spending time at Hedonism, you can only get a brief outline of what this magical place has in store. The people who go to "Hedo," however, are very real. Ms.Santilli does an accurately delightful job of communicating this. Guests there come from all walks of life to revel in their own individuality and sexuality, and to celebrate these qualities in the people around them. If you are a 'repeat offender' counting days until your next trip to Negril, buy this book to read on the airplane and to possibly recount your own HedoTales. If you enjoyed Hedonism once and can not wait to go back, buy this book to read in between calls to your travel agent. If you are considering a first trip to Hedo II, buy this book - it does indeed live up to its name and is worth every dime. Truly 5 stars, and a definite 2 thumbs up; Ms. Santilli bares it with the very best, writing with a very sexy style. Buy this book, then buy any sequel, then buy them all for your friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars good info for any all inclusive vacation, March 30, 2004

This is the first travel book I've read that didn't put me into a coma. Each page I laughed. Each page I learned. This book supplied the answers to the questions unasked. Woodies, Wallys, (...) checks for toilet paper, floating members (hell, I've had one all my life and didn't realize it floats), etiquette, all inclusive tipping and much more. I realize how little I knew when I first vacationed "all inclusive". This book isn't just for those interested in Hedo Resorts, Jamaica, or any all inclusive vacation; This book can stand alone for "a good read". I must return to Jamaica to put my new found knowledge to work.... They need me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Required reading for those who wish to know about Hedonism, May 2, 1998
By A Customer
As a travel guide "The Naked Truth About Hedonism II" is right on the mark. It is a book which is both fun to read and very practical at the same time. Ms. Santilli provides the first time visitor with a wealth of very practical information about this most unusual of resorts. Look here to find out what to bring, what to buy, what to wear (and not wear), what to do, etc. It should be required reading for the first timer. For those who have been to Hedonism II it is a welcome reminder of past experiences and people. It contains numerous tales of visitors experiences and opinions. The book, and the hotel, are for the open minded. Be warned that some will object to the detailed discussion of nudity, sex, drinking, etc. For them reading this book will help them avoid what will probably be their idea of a 'vacation in hell'. The only problem with 'The Naked Truth About Hedonism II' are the photos. Many of them are too dark (low contrast). This book is recommended reading for those going to Jamaica.

5.0 out of 5 stars Honest information and easy to read, December 24, 2003

I do not buy travel books, hate them. They take all the mystery away from a trip. However, since I am going to visit Hedo II and was curious I bought this book.

Chris Santilli really knows how to give you the straight, honest information about the place and makes it fun to read. There are many funny stories accompanied with numerous useful advice. She gives an honest appreciation of the foibles and highlights of the place.

Reading this book makes me feel well-prepared for my trip. I know what to look forward to, what to be careful about, what to bring and not bring, what to do and not do to get the most out of my trip.

If you are going to invest that kind of money in a trip like that, getting this book first is probably the best thing you could do. Consider it as a good investment, good preparation, good research, good fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars The essential Hedo II primer, August 7, 2003

This review is from: The Naked Truth About Hedonism II (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
My wife and I went to Hedo II for our 30th wedding anniversary. We had a great time in spite of the weather(a tropical storm blew through). Before going we heard rumors and read some things about Hedo II, but really didn't know what to expect. After we returned I ordered the Naked Truth About Hedonism II and realized how much we missed and how uninformed we were. We would have been fully prepared and knew exactly who, what, when, where, and how to do virtually everything at the resort and in Negril, had we read the book first. The book is a must have for any visit to Hedo. Aside from all the valuable info provided, the book is a riot to read and full of great photos. The people and events made for some of the funniest reading ever. Chris Santilli did an outstanding job of collecting and organizing information for the book and this could only have been done by a seasoned expert. As we plan for our return trip we are rereading to ensure we are fully prepared for maximum fun. Thanks Chris, great job!

4.0 out of 5 stars A must read for first time visitors to Hedo II, March 4, 2007
This review is from: The Naked Truth About Hedonism II (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
This is a must read for all first time travelers to Hedo II. My wife and I wish we had read the book prior to our first visit three years ago. The book is funny and a great introduction to some of the cast of characters you'll meet and activities you can expect to have. We have been there 3 times now and without the benefit of Chris' insight we missed out on a lot on our first trip.

We have made friendships and now schedule our return visits to coincide with new friends we have met. It is truely a blast!

We are in our mid 40s and intitally were a bit apprehensive, particularly my wife. As our first week progressed gradually inhibitions faded - this may be in proportion to the alcohol consumed!!! After two days her top came off at the beach, by the forth day we enjoyed nudity and by the sixtth day she was speaking "french" to several of the single men that were vacationing! It is amazing - but after a week of fun we return to our proper lives in the states, working and parenting etc. What goes on in Hedo stays in Hedo...except for a few pictures lol

But now we are already planning and looking forward to our next visit this November!

Great book - a must read. Kudos to Chris

5.0 out of 5 stars This was a fun read!!!, February 23, 2006

It is obvious that Chris Santilli has a great sense of humor. She takes a lot of the mysticism away from what one would expect while visiting Hedo II.

She has a lot of insights on what's what down in Jamaica (no judgements, for example). She introduces the reader to several of the staff (most of whom are still working there). Some of these staff members are treated as well-known personalities (almost rock star status) and Chris tells you who is who among them.

Having just returned from our 3rd trip to Hedo II since last May, I can tell you that the place is a lot of fun, and Chris captures the magic in her book.

I rate it 5 stars, it was a fast, fun read.

This book was very informative and really details what the Hedo vacation can be. The storys from the guests were very funny. I truly felt like I was back at Hedo while I was reading this book. I can't wait until my next Hedo vacation.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book reminds you of why you love Hedo, April 16, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ms. Santilli's book, The Naked Truth About Hedonism II, is a good cure for DIF (dreaded island fever or what you feel after returning home from the island).

The Naked Truth evokes the island and especially the resort of Hedo II. If you're a newbie, it's a must read to help get your feet wet. If you've been before, it's a wonderful reminder of why you love the resort ... plus you may read about or see some friends.

This is the must have book for those considering a visit to Hedonism II in Negril, Jamaica.
