5.0 out of 5 stars best foolproof design for kids
The bubble top, when pushed down, automatically causes the nozzle to retract, so you have double insurance that the water will not leak in your bag.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so hot
Great bottle for cycling; not plastic tasting, easy to hold. The problem is that the protective cap pops off easily, leaving the nozel exposed to dirt, etc.

We are on to our fourth one (lost the other three).

Incredibly, it's even made in the USA - sadly, so few things are.

5.0 out of 5 stars Used it for years and still love it, May 3, 2010
By
I have the fatter purple-capped bottle, I've used it daily at my desk and on trips for many years, and it's my favorite bottle ever. It's #4 plastic, LDPE, one of the safe plastics that doesn't leach into your drink. Unfortunately it can't hold hot liquids though.

The cap works extremely well. It is very quick to flip open and closed, stays closed and doesn't leak, and isn't very hard to clean. (Sometimes I put it in the dishwasher, but I always hand-wash the bottle part.)

The blue letters and measurements on the side have all but worn off completely. The plastic itself is showing only minor scratches and scuffs. I dropped the cap on concrete recently and the flip-open tab broke off, but there was otherwise no breaking/cracking and it's still very easy to open by pinching the sides of the cap.

If this one dies, I'll buy another immediately.

5.0 out of 5 stars the drinking spout / nozzle takes a bit to get used to, February 14, 2011

the drinking spout / nozzle takes a bit to get used to, especially while you're running or riding. i find it opens and closes quite easily and the bouncing during physical activity requires some practice to be able to keep the nozzle open and not close it accidentally.other than that, it's a great bottle. cleans easy and has a nice nozzle protector.

Much better than an old Bell bottle I had. This top clicks into place to keep the mouth piece clean.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nalgene water bottle - great for the gym, December 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Purchased for use at the gym. The usual great quality expected from Nalgene. Body of the bottle is sturdy enough that you are comfortable in squeezing it. Protective cover over the sipper spout is easy to manage with one hand. Good size to hold enough water to get you thru an hour spin or Body Pump class.

I was thrilled to find that Amazon carries these water bottles. My husband and I have been using this style of water bottle for many years but they are not as easy to find as they once were. I started using these bottles when rowing because the covers keep the lake water from contaminating the nozzle. It is easy to open, doesn't leak, and you don't have to touch the bottle to drink from it. It is easy to use when driving a car, riding a bike, walking, etc. They do not contain BPA and since you can see through them, security at baseball stadiums and airports can see that they are empty. The only problem is that sometimes the caps break. If that happens, replacements can be ordered from Nalgene.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for riding off road; the cover keeps the dirt off the spout., September 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've tried using my road water bottles for off-road riding and it's amazing how much dirt ends up on the bottles, and in particular on the spout, even when the bottle is shielded by the down-tube on the bike. I don't enjoy gritty mouthfuls of Cytomax.

So after reading some reviews of this bottle I decided to try one for off-road riding. It absolutely works as intended: the spout stays pretty clean, even on very dusty trails covered with fine powdery sand/dust.

The cap isn't 100% airtight, so a small amount of dust may infiltrate, but in my experience the spout tends to stay clean-- at least the part where I put my lips-- so I've not had any gritty mouthfuls of Cytomax in a while.

Too, the bottle is nalgene, so the bottom portion is squeezable.

Finally, the mouth on this bottle is nice and wide, so I don't spill powdered drink mix when filling it, unlike bottles that I have from a different manufacturer.

My only complaint: I wish the capacity was 700ml.

5.0 out of 5 stars Got 5 of em, no more bottled water., June 27, 2010
I picked up two of these about 4 years ago and have been using them several times a month. Kids take it to games and practice and they've been kicked around a dugout quite a bit with no damage. I decided that I'd get a few more and keep them filled up in the fridge and my kids are drinking more water and we never buy bottled water anymore. The wide mouth at the opening makes them easier to clean than some water bottles. Very happy with these.
