Many people dismiss this game being a poor copy of duke nukem, being difficult and being not realistic as it is promised on the package, Blah blah blah blah. First of all this game is very original because it is set in a realistic combat environment not in stupid alien landscape which I have seen a million times and hate seeing over and over again. Back in those days, how many games you have seen with enemy troops hiding in jungle at night waiting for you ? How about nearly impossible to find mines (both chemical and the regular ones) How about night time fighting in the jungle or riding a chopper and getting shot at ? (even for a short time) And the street fighting in Saigon during tet, air strikes, artillery support, ambushes, tunnels, enemy tanks, beach landing and the sound of jets. How many times you used regular combat weapons like M 60 ? Hell even these are not enough for you you can even witness some of the works by the predator (not himself but his victims, his blood etc)Yes game has its downs but also have lots of ups. This game is very dated now and looks pale in comparison but in those days I really enjoyed the battle field atmosphere with enemy coming out of woods and shelling etc. Additionally check out that price. What do you except (...)these days? Also I would like to point out that If you want real realism why dont you join the army instead? For God sake how real a fps can be. Even latest and very realistic fps games fail in one way or another. Neither delta force series nor operation flaspoint (even both of the are excellent games)seems that realistic. Games are made for fun and I truly enjoyed this game. It was many years back then but I still keep my copy and enjoy fighting against the tough and determined VC.

I bought and played "Nam" a couple years ago. This may be a revised version. I've also seen it sold as "Napalm". Nam is a first person shooter game based on the Vietnam war. Anyone familiar with the Duke Nukem series will recognize the 3D engine/environment. There are two game scenarios with multiple levels each. Perhaps I'm a bad player, but after I reached each of the last levels I couldn't get the game to end. Or perhaps that's supposed to be symbolic of something. Either way it was disappointing. As someone old enough to have served in Vietnam (but didn't) and to know people who did, I was troubled by the Viet Cong human targets.

The game Wolfenstein 3D is a much better 3D conversion of a war than NAM. NAM is impossibly impossible and stupid. The cover says "based on a DOOM-style engine." This plays nothing like DOOM. DOOM is fun. NAM is annoying. It's so hard and requires so much planning that looking forward to playing it is tedious.
