Product Description

Product Description

Don't be thrown off by the title of this game--the artwork in this museum isn't the stuff that field trips are made of. Instead, it's a course in ancient video gaming that focuses on six of the format's most important historical figures. Start with the arcade version of the first family: Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man. Sadly, Namco didn't include "Pac-Man Fever" on the soundtrack. The next exhibit showcases variations from the top-down shooter period: Galaga and Galaxian. Drive by Pole Position, an early milestone in gaming realism, and finally to Dig Dug, an early milestone in gaming surrealism, where the object is to dig underground and pump enough air into subterranean monsters to make them burst. Remember: those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Retro-Arcade. Blast to the past!, November 30, 1999

This review is from: Namco Museum 64 (Game Cartridge)
Namco Museum 64 is a great game for retro-arcade lovers. Namco Museum 64 features 6 games: Pac-Man, Ms-Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Galaxian, Galaga, and Pole Position. These games all came out in the arcades in the 1980's. I remember pumping quarters into these games when they first came out in the arcades. All of the games are pretty straight forward. Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man focuses on a yellow circle (with a mouth) that eats pellets. 4 different colored ghosts chase after you in a maze. Galaga and Galaxian are basically Space Invader clones. You are a ship shooting invaders down. Dig Dug is sort of a Mr. Do clone. Your a person in a garden destroying monsters with a pump. Finally, Pole Position is a F-1 racer. Your car does a qualifying race, then onto the main race.

Overall, this a great game for me! For today's generation, the graphics may be a little lame, but for the retro lovers, this will be a blast.

If you like arcade classics like Ms. Pacman, Galaga, Dig-dug, etc., this game is worth purchasing. Not only did it bring hours of good old simple arcade fun, but it also brought back feelings of nostalgia.
