Swagger Walk Trash Rock,

This album is one of the greatest in my collection, and I listen to it all the time. It never gets old, and in fact, I like it more all the time. The songs are pure rock and roll, make you want to dance. This band is amazing, pure and simple.

The Devils Score again,

Bright red guitar riffs, monster music organ, killer rhythm section and howling vocals make this another fabulous offering from Seattle's own Murder City Devils. It's too bad they broke up in October of 2001, bands like this don't come around too often.

What more can you say when you preface a review with that title. Murder City Devils are pure old-school punk at its best, which is to say, three minute or less in-your-face, snotty, drunken, chaos fueled anthems."In Name and Blood" is the latest release from the Seattle based six piece and the quality hasn't faltered a bit on any of them. The ever present rebel-rock attitude is still strong with them and in that respect is reminiscent of 50's rock and roll on a certain level while Leslie Hardy's work on Farfisa adds kind of a New Wave feel. All of this is wrapped up in Spencer's frantic rantings at the helm. The instrumentation is tight (as well as punk can be) on all three CD's by the Devils so one would be hard pressed to choose a favorite. My advice: don't try, just get them all.

The best,

The Murder City Devils are the best band. I saw them live at bumbershoot and they were amazing. The other 2 albums were cool, but on this one it all comes together. They added a regular organ player so all of the songs would have the eiry organs that set them apart from other rock bands. The sound quality is also greatly increased. It's alot more mature album, and rocks as hard as ever.

Too late to catch the show. Might as well hear one of the most rocking groups to come out in a while on CD.

This band renews my faith in the evil powers of rock&roll. They have a sense of menace and power that is sorely lacking in most bands today, without resorting to thuggish and bone-headed attempts at being "tough guys".They even cover Neil Diamond and make it creepy, but that's no real stretch. If you're tired of "Raging against Limp Korny Chamber" bands, give this a spin through yr ears and get the real rock, jack. They're even better live,so drink up and rock out if you get the chance.

This is one of the best, IF NOT THE BEST, rock groups in the last fifteen years. I never got to see them live in person but have seen numerous videos and regret not seeing them every time I listen to any of their albums or dead low tides albums. Buy any of Murder City Devils albums and you have purchased one of the most under rated rock bands of all time. I only wish that they hadn't of called it quits.........

My Ears Are Still Ringing!,

I bought this album a little while ago, and listen to it all the time. "Idle Hands" "Drink the Wine", "Press Gang" & "Demon Brother" contain some of the meatiest rock grooves I have ever heard. The freaky organ is too cool.I just saw MCD last night, and they just rocked the roof off of First Avenue. Their assault is so visceral that it left bruises. If you think this album is cool (and it is), go see 'em live. They opened with "Idle Hands", and the garage has rarely sounded so threatening. 4.5 stars for the album, and 6 stars for last night's show.

Murder City Devils- In Name And Blood,
By Chris Fredrickson (Seattle, Washington) - See all my reviews

Finally, a band that succeeds in scaring the listener into believing there is a man with a mask and a knife standing behind you. "In Name And Blood" is nice and dirty rock n' roll, although not restoring the original "sex, drugs, cash and booze" attitude of various forgotten 80's bands. They have a unique sound that, at first listen may appear vaguely similar to Depeche Mode, but after just moments it conceals itself from your ears, leaving you wondering why your synth-pop now sounds like Iggy & The Stooges. But don't be fooled, the murder rock has a sound of its own, mixing with furiously mysterious lyrics, and making a mere listen turn into a nightmare. Murder City Devils are a band with endless potential, and should be dropping in on the current scene any day now. If the parents at Columbine High School had heard songs like "Somebody Else's Baby", the haunting "Press Gang", or "Bunkhouse", they would have forgotten accusing Marilyn Manson and blamed it all on Murder City. Thankfully, this never happened, making Muder City Devils a definite choice for name-dropping.
