Hip, Hard, Haunting,

'You Made Me the Thief...' was the reason I bought this soundtrack (besides loving the movie), and I have since come to enjoy the other tracks as well. Bono is great on the title track. (Bono on anything is good.) I also dig the theme. This soundtrack is eclectic, yet well blended in its genres of pop, hard rock, classical and alternative.

This is surely one of the best soundtracks of the modern era- mainly due to its fabulous mix of film score (Trevor Jones) and the songs purposely written by Bono and Gavin Friday. The powerful last song is one to treasure. The best work here though, is the blood curdling celtic feel mixed with pure anger which runs through the title track.

One of the Best Soundtracks!! Simply brilliant!,
This review is from: In The Name Of The Father: Music From The Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
The movie is so moving, and with any good movie, the soundtrack plays an important role in the overall success. It underscores the mood the visual is saying and this is a prime example of a mix of old, new and very old, talent and choices that work well to give this film such power and impact.Bono's dark and driving title cut, is vital, powerful and full of rage, simply perfect to kick off a move full of energy and rage. The soundtrack smartly moves then to using older cuts, like the old Irish pub fav Whiskey in the Jar, the marvellous Ray Davies' poke at English Carnaby era Dedicated Follower of Fashion, and Hendrix's Voodoo Child and Is this Love by Bob Marley. Finishing up with Sinead O' Connor poignant and haunting You Made Me The Thief of Your Heart....well it just does not get any better than this!

Overall a great soundtrack with a bit of most everything. No need to comment on the "Hendrix" and "Bob Marley" songs, they're both classics. The "Kinks" song is probably recognizable to most, and sounds like early "Who" for those that don't know it. "Whiskey In The Jar" is another great one, and recently covered by "Metallica" for those wondering. And the instumentals are all very nice, and add vibe from the film throughout the cd. But the best things here are the opener and closer. The song "In The Name Of The Father" is a great one from "Bono" and "Gavin Friday", and almost as good as "You Made Me The Thief Of Your Heart", sung beautifully by "Sinead O'Connor". It's a very emotional ending, to a wonderful soundtrack, from a great movie.

A Good Soundtrack For a Movie I've Never Seen!,

There's an interesting story behind my decision to get this soundtrack. A few years back, I saw a David Cooperfield special and he did an illusion that had a song that was unmistakably done by U2 because I recognized Bono's voice. Of course I didn't know the song title, and it doesn't appear on any of their albums. So I looked through Amazon and came across this album. After listening to a sample, that was all I needed to place my order. Now the question is was it worth it? The answer is yes! "In The Name of The Father" and "Billy Bola" are two cool songs by Bono, The two classics "Voodoo Child" and "Dedicated Follower of Fasion" are great, plus the instrumential pieces are very good. "You Made Me The Thief of Your Heart" sounds like something from one of those "Pure Moods" albums and rounds off the album perfectly. Of course one of these days I'll have to check out the movie.

I fell in love with Gerry Conlon and his story, especially when theatrically acted out by Daniel Day-Lewis. The soundtrack is just as awesome as the movie. The first track, In the Name of the Father, is so...unsettling. The deep musical riffs just hit you in the heart. Yea, I know, it sounds dumb, yet it's true. I also like the track Whiskey in the Jar. I am very familiar with the original Irish drinking song, and this more upbeat, modern version of it is great, although it doesn't really pertain to the film. Again, I strongly reccomend this to anyone who enjoyed the movie, or if you are into Irish music, this is definetly a must-have for any collection!

Pretty much any time Bono is on a soundtrack, you've got a hit. This is a very powerful CD. Some amazing artists are on this CD from Hendrix to The Kinks to Bob Marley and of course Bono. It's definately a CD you should have in your collection.

I bought this soundtrack 8 years ago and is still one of favorite ever. I have always been a big U2 and Bono fan, but this CD introduced me to the music of Trevor Jones. This and the Last of the Mohicans soundtrack CD contains some of the best musical pieces I have ever heard. The favorite being "Walking in Circle".

I bought this album strictly for the songs written by Gavin Friday and Bono. Gavin Friday is a genius (check out his solo albums, they are perfect). The haunting melodies composed for the title track and the absolutely perfect Sinead O'Connor song along with the upbeat Billy Boola make the rest of the songs chosen for the soundtrack pale in comparison. I still recommend the album if only for these amazing tracks. If you check out this album you won't be disappointed.

No me creyó. Lo compré, se lo presté y me dió la razón. Mis amigos adoraron el CD desde que lo escucharon que ha pasado más tiempo en manos ajenas que en las mías. Es una de las mejores compras que he hecho y es uno de mis top 10 discos.
