Book Description

August 6, 2002
Before offering a prayer at the inauguration of President George W. Bush, Franklin Graham was asked by a fellow participant if he intended to pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Graham assured him that he would and encouraged this pastor to do the same. As Graham reminded him, "That's the only thing we've got." In days of religious confusion and cultural relativism, Franklin Graham reminds us that there are absolutes in the kingdom of God. The Name explains the significance of names in the Hebrew culture, centering on the meaningfulness of the name Jesus. Chapters focus on the different aspects of power in the Lord's name, such as "Healing in the Name" and "Salvation in the Name."

From AudioFile

Narrator Jim Bond, portrays Franklin Graham, the Reverend Billy Graham's son, as he articulates the absolutes of his religious beliefs in a world of relativism. With clear bass tones, he contrasts Islam and Christianity and provides references to support his thoughts, and he also examines the tragedy of Columbine. In this thought-provoking audio, Graham urges listeners to find comfort in a personal relationship with Christ. Passionate, yet eloquent, Bond depicts Graham urging the lost to find "hope in the Name above all names." Franklin Graham does not mince words. This book outlines in great detail the reasons that "demons scream and flail around when they hear the Name of Jesus." He does not make terms with those who insist that we share the same God with other religions. There is no compromise with those who would water down the Christian Creed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Political Correctness or Christianity?, October 3, 2002
By
This review is from: The Name (Hardcover)
Franklin Graham in this outstanding work provides a prophetic wake-up call to the church of the 21st century. Drawing upon the recent Columbine tragedy and the very recent terrorist attacks, the author asserts that more spiritual guidance is needed than mere references to a generic God. He encourages Christians to pray and to speak as Christians, boldly calling upon the name of Jesus Christ.

Graham does not bash other religions -- he does bash the tendency of American society today to be tolerant towards all religions EXCEPT Christianity. He also insightfully states that the framework for our current tolerance of various beliefs is founded upon a Christian value system. He describes the lack of tolerance and freedom of religion in countries that have another religion's value system as a basis instead of Christianity.

Graham in this book is right on target. This work should be read by every Christian pastor, leader and teacher. The Church needs to realize that the Name of Jesus Christ is not to be avoided, but affirmed. To do otherwise would deny the very heart of the Christian faith.

As a Christian response to the politically correct religious climate that has arisen since 9/11, this book is second-to-none.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wholesome, truthful, experiences about just the Name, April 10, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Name (Hardcover)
I used to work for Samaritan's Purse and for Mr. Graham and that was the only reason I picked up this book. I have a hard time reading books but I could not put this one down. If you go into this book with the idea that you will come out with a holy revelation your wrong. It is a book about Mr. Graham's experiences, and his struggles with worldly views about using the name of Jesus. One review on here said that Mr. Graham was wrong about the Islam vs. Christianity issue, but Mr Graham is correct. This is also a book that shows there is much hope in Jesus just by his Holy name. If you want something good to read pick this book, but make sure you enter into it with the right mind.
