Kim Waters is an accomplished musician. His smooth sax sounds are how he is ultimately known. And what sweet sounds those are! Kim is accomplished on both alto and soprano saxophone. He also plays keyboards, and drum programming.
"Sunset" brings on a mood that is perfect at the end of the day for relaxing, unwinding, and grooving. "In Deep" pops with a soulful energy. That sweet soprano sax will bring you to your feet. Or perhaps, your knees. Either way, it's heavenly! "The Ride" is a smooth journey of ultimate bliss. Kim's alto sax is at the center of "All I Wanna Do (Is Please You). This luxurious sound will take you floating away. Plus, seeing Kim perform this live in concert is a gorgeous experience. "For The Groove In You" is funky, spirited, and fun. He seems to be inspired by the spirits of Grover and George Howard on this one. "Cross My Heart" has pizzazz, energy and soulfulness all wrapped up in one! This was recorded with the guitar of Chuck Loeb who always lends a special depth to Kim's songs. The bonus track "The Ride" with the Davy D. Remix is hot as can be!! With a driving beat, one of Kim's best songs is recreated into a new twist. Seeing Kim perform this live will make you jump out of your seat and dance!! Whether on cd, or live in concert, Kim Waters crosses all generations and all races. His best songs are those that he has written himself. Highly recommended for the smooth jazz sax lover...one of the finest talented musicians of today, don't miss it!! It's truly soul-satisfying!!!

Another Winner,

Smooth jazz wins adherents by sticking to a predictable course, not by innovation. A saxophonist like Kim Waters, then, attracts the label "the #1 saxophonist in Smooth Urban Jazz!" from his ability to bring a silky, straightforward interpretation to both known and new compositions, not by playing like John Coltrane. The opener, "Step in the Name of Love," will be familiar to radio fans from R. Kelly's hit version, while listeners with longer memories will appreciate a new version of Barry White's "Love's Theme." The majority of the material, however, has been written by Waters himself, from the mellow vibes of "Sunset" to the lengthy late-night groove of "All I Wanna Do (Is Please You)." Besides playing saxophone, Waters also helps out with the production and plays a number of other instruments. He's joined by guitarist Wayne Bruce, keyboardist Dave Darlington, and several others, but this is mostly Waters' show. It's only at the end of In the Name of Love that Waters stretches things out a bit, letting Davy D handle a remix of "The Ride." In the Name of Love delivers pretty much what fans have come to expect from Waters and the smooth jazz scene, and should please both fans and radio programmers.
