5.0 out of 5 stars great album
I think that this band is great and very original. I don't hear too many bands like them and they have a unique style. Here is a list of my rankings of the songs.

1. Fear In Me (10/10) F'n amazing song and a great album opener.
2. Bellevue (9/10) Another really good song...it has a different pace and is one of their more melodic songs.
3. Guilt...

3.0 out of 5 stars one really good song, and some tolerable.
Well, I heard that this band was touring w/ Mudvayne, so I decided to pick it up used for like 6 bucks. Thank god i came accross it like that, because this cd's worth nothing more than that. Bellevue is the only song carrying this cd at all. Just because the chorus has a good melody. But some of the songs toward the end of the cd are just absolutely annoying. It's...

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Perfect, March 19, 2004
This review is from: In the Name of Progress (Audio CD)
1. Fear In Me- Great song, catchy tune, great first song to start the cd out with, i loved this song the first time i heard it

2. Bellevue- i wasnt crazy about this one at first, but the more you listen to this song you realize how amazing it is and this is probably now one of my favorites on here, a unique beat to it

3. Guilt (Hold Down)- this is the single that got me into this band, i am just really drawn to this song, i've never heard a beat or lyrics like this it before

4. At War -i love the lyrics, i love the beat, this song is perfect, i love everything about it

5. Speak In Tongues- didnt get into this song too much, but I like it, i havent listened to it enough yet

6. 515 Mellus- interlude

7. Nathaniel- this is my favorite song on here, i never get sick of listening to it, there is just so much emotion in this song and the melody just stands out from all the rest on here

8. Things Have Changed- One of my favorites on here, i dont know what i love more, the lyrics or the song, i absolutely love the chorus, like Nathaniel, i can put this song on repeat and not get sick of it

9. Emo This- really great lyrics, not sure whats up with the song title, lol, but the song grows on you the more you listen to it

10. Shut Up- this song is really cool, a unique style of sound to it, i love the lyrics and it also grows on you the more you listen to it

11. Surface- AWESOME song, great song to listen to if your p-oed and just need to rage, a lot of anger and screams in the lyrics and this is probably my favorite song to listen to if i just feel like hitting something

12. Resurface- How can anyone not like this song? I loved the lyrics and the beat to it, i bet most people will be able to relate to these lyrics, and its one of the best songs on here

13. The Orient- interlude

14. Bla Bla Radio- this song is about the radio im guessing, the lyrics are very clever and it grows on you more and more if you listen to it

15. Magical- took me awhile to get into this song, i didnt like it at first, but yet i kept turning to it and listening to it but i like it now, its really neat lyrics, its a love song and its a good song to end the cd off with

This CD really is perfect though, every song to me seems to stand out from itself and I absolutely love every single song on here. Its clear that this band is doing its own thing, and doesnt seem to care what other bands do, because they have a unique sound to them, not a generic one. This band is in no comparison to any band other band out there, they are offering a new original sound of their own that i have never heard before and Im really into. For anyone whos thinking of buying this cd, i suggest you do, and give this band a chance. Take my advice though, dont listen to it once, and toss it away, because rarely is a cd the best after only hearing it once. I think when you listen to this cd more and more, you notice different things in the songs, things that really stand out from others bands and things you can relate to. I also really love this band because somehow, ...you know how some bands, the lyrics to the song never seem to fit the beat? You dont have to ever worry about that when you listen to Fingertight. The emotion is just very deep and i just cant express enough how amazing and great this band is. If you are a fan of Fingertight, e-mail me at spirit_kitten@hotmail.com, i would love to hear from other fans. Anyway though, this is one of the best cds i've ever heard, and definetly a band that has real talent and a lot to offer. I'm very anxious to hear their upcoming CD and see them in concert.

Bellevue is the only song carrying this cd at all. Just because the chorus has a good melody. But some of the songs toward the end of the cd are just absolutely annoying. It's like they aren't even the same band or genre as they are in Bellevue. 3 stars just because I can't stop listening to that one song.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good, February 10, 2005
This review is from: In the Name of Progress (Audio CD)
The number one complaint that I have heard so far is that the band doesn't sound original. But really, with the exception of the next great band, who is original? The songs on here are quality. They are great for spacing out during a car trip or something. There is nothing on here that will deeply effect your life, but there are some good songs on here none the less. "Shut up" and "emo this" come to mind. If nothing else look at it this way, they aren't overly popular so if you know about this band then you must be into the alt/rock scene. So for a good album by a band that can play and sing, why now just pay the quarter for it used. You won't regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great debut album, September 2, 2003
This review is from: In the Name of Progress (Audio CD)
I have listened to Fingertight for a few years (they started out as a local band in my area), and "In the name of progress" is their major label debut. The disc contains a good mix of old and new material. As someone who listened to the band before their record deal, I can say that their sound has become a little more polished for mainstream radio, but their songwriting has not suffered. The band plays a mix of hard metal-inspired rock and mellower alternative. The best way to describe their sound would be a cross between Our Lady Peace, Nirvana, and the Deftones, although that example doesn't really do it justice. The songs here are quite diverse, ranging from the aggressive, driving "At War" to the mellow, introspective "Things Have Changed" to the chilling stripped down piano and vocals in "Magical." There's really something for every taste on here. I would definately reccomend this disc.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different., June 27, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: In the Name of Progress (Audio CD)
I've seen some reviews of people who think this is a metal album because Fingertight have toured with metal bands. If you think that, you will be disappointed. This is an alt/rock album. All the songs on this CD sound very differnt from one another (that's a good thing). If you like any form of rock and are open minded to different genres of music, I think you will like this CD. Get it used if you want and see for yourself.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Fingertight is in possession of one of the most entertaining frontmen of all time. The lead singers did swantons from the PA Kit into the stage. They never stood still for a quarter of a second, even for slow songs. Definately buy this album, it is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars IN THE NAME OF GOOD MUSIC, October 15, 2003

LISTEN UP KIDS!!!!!! THIS IS A HEADS UP ON A BAND THATS GONNA MAKE IT BIG.
If you like "DEFTONES", "SUNNY DAY", "TAPROOT" or just straight up energy driven quality music buy this album.
If I had to describe this album with one word it would be "VERSATILITY"
If you follow the at least "4 good song rule" this album has eight great songs.
My personal favorite 3 songs are "Guilt", "Nathaniel", and "Shut Up".
The music consists of distorted aswell as clean guitar riffs with trippy affects, Solid creative Bass, Crazy Drums awesome fills, and a vocals that you will definitely enjoy.
When I hear a band perform I'll usually enjoy the music until the singer fukks it up. Not in this case.
Fingertight is a complete band. Trust me when I say they will be big.
If you like to attend good shows check these guys out they're pretty tight.
I CHU CHU CHOOSE THIS ALBUM TOP TEN 2003

Wow! I have been waiting for someone to follow Papa Roach and start a new style of music. Fingertight has done it and it sounds great. These guys know how to evolve and bring out new, hard-hitting songs! You can really hear the strength and fury to their music. These guys are great on the CD and are even better in concert. I see them going big in a year. Watch out Trapt, they are coming after you! Buy this album or any other release by Fingertight.
