It's difficult to describe in words the effect that this disk has on me. Breaking down the various elements of Knievel's sound in an attempt to assess their "style" wouldn't really give any casual reader of this review anything to give them pause to consider further. It's "indie pop/rock" with a much more pensive feel to it. Gently lulling at times, rhythmically propulsive in others, but the varios dynamics they explore across the range of tracks on this disc all work together. Minor key melodies, plaintive earnest vocals (NOT EMO!)and unique arrangements saturate this disk and provide it with a dominant melancholy feel. Listened in its entirety, it generates an almost other-worldly hypnotic effect on the listener, an effect the other reviewer refers to differently. I have listened to this disk countless times while driving late at night on the highway and it overwhelms me everytime. A hidden gem, one of my favorite disks in my collection. The closest I could come to describing other similar artists would be: Matt Pond PA. If you are a fan of his/their work, you would like this. Even if you aren't familiar, and you found yourself here, you're at least curious. Worth checking out. Utterly sublime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relax and Ride the Wave..., March 15, 2009

Listen to this album when you're enjoying another picnic on another idyllic day with your soul mate. It'll fit right in, without being obtrusive, with the light breeze, clouds lazily strolling across the sky, and light conversation. Perfectly.

Or if you're wishing you were on that picnic but, for whatever reason, it'll never happen again, listen to this album and you'll understand it's okay to take time to heal and ready yourself to meet that one special person who's also been looking for you. Endure. Sustain. Smile. Trust your gut. Heal. You'll love (and be loved) again. And finally, you'll realize loving yourself and all your imperfections is the healthiest love of all.
