10 novelty songs by Cash,

The Man in Black recorded many funny songs throughout his long career and this disc contains some of the best. From "Smiling Bill McCall" a hit from 1960 to "The Chicken in Black" from 1984. You'll laugh your head off. The title "Crazy Country" is exactly what this is. Johnny was better known for his serious songs but this disc proves he had a fantastic sense of humor. His death on September 12th, 2003 at 71 was very sad news but his music will live on and on.

I enjoyed sharing these songs with my kids (ages 10, 10, and 5). I have fond memories of playing my dad's old Johnny Cash record of funny songs when I was a kid. I do wish "Egg Suckin' Dog" had been on this one, though.

Not one of Johnny Cash's standard massed-produced albums. Some of these songs have been hard to find for a long time--I heard somewhere that Cash didn't like some of them. They are humorous songs and don't fit in with his serious image.
Chicken in Black is about a brain exchange, where Johnny's brain is replaced with a bank robber's. Flushed from the Bathroom of Your Heart: what his girl does to him Boa Constrictor: a Shel Silverstein song about how it feels to be swallowed whole. Look at them Beans: a man's father becomes fertilizer for an awesome crop of beans. Philosophically bent. One Piece at a Time: good song. Johnny steals a Cadillac from GM, one piece at a time over (40?) years. Oney: a man beats up his boss after a lifetime of grief.
