Jacqueline Rankine-Van Wassenhoven was born in 1945 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
She immigrated to Canada with her parents and sister Margaret in 1957.
She crossed the Atlantic by ship. (The Fairsea) The crossing took thirteen days. She was a member of The Canadian Children's Book Centre and The Children's Writer. Her first children's book was "A Frog Named Waldor" followed by "Who Stole Grandpa's Teeth?" "Sundays At Grandmother's House" and her latest one "Three Pumpkin Pies For Three Good Neighbors"
And my latest one about my darling cat Serge who passed away on the 10th of August 2009. called "A Little Honey For Serge"
I got another cat on December 20th 2010 from the animal shelter, his name is Sam he is eight years old and what a darling he is. Such a gentle little thing and has taken to us as we have to him.
She is now retired and lives in Napanee, Canada, with her husband and the almost fifteen year old diabetic cat, Serge.

A Frog Named Waldor is a great escape. Well written and full of images which complement the story. Highly recommended

Everyone loves to be taken away to another place and time. A Frog Named Waldor will give you just that chance to escape into the magical enchanted forest with Jennifer,the fairies and a quite lively pond frog named Waldor! Enjoy this read as I definitely give it 5 stars!!

What a Romp!!! A Frog by any other name would still be WALDOR! Share the excitement as he dances with the fairies and Jennifer, the main protagonist. Highly recommended for all who believe in "Old Style Fantasy".
