5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring Historical Fiction!, July 30, 2007
By
K. Fralish (Ariton, Alabama) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a wonderful, eye-opening account of English History during the time of the Viking raids on southern England. The history is accurate, the characters are believable, the battles are exciting, the relationships are inspiring. My 13 year-old daughter is an avid reader, she and I enjoyed reading this one aloud by chapters at night. You don't want the story to end, and that's good because there is a sequal which is even better - The Marsh King. Hodges has a real gift for writing English historical fiction and presenting true heroes in a positive encouraging tone. Must read for all ages!
