More About the Author

Born in the Bronx, Stefan Petrucha spent his formative years moving between the big city and the suburbs, both of which made him prefer escapism.

A fan of comic books, science fiction and horror since learning to read, in high school and college he added a love for all sorts of literary work, eventually learning that the very best fiction always brings you back to reality, so, really, there's no way out.

An obsessive compulsion to create his own stories began at age ten and has since taken many forms, including novels, comics and video productions. At times, the need to pay the bills made him a tech writer, an educational writer, a public relations writer and an editor for trade journals, but fiction, in all its forms, has always been his passion. Every year he's made a living at that, he counts a lucky one. Fortunately, there've been many.

"Night of the Living Chatchke" is installment #17 in the latest reincarnation of Nancy Drew, girl detective. This version updates the popular series by Carolyn Keene, reimagining Nancy Drew, her best friends Bess and George, and father Carson Drew into the 21st Century in graphic novel format.

The story opens with Nancy off to exotic Istanbul, Turkey, with her father, who is there to oversee the sale of the estate of a beautiful client. The client, one Alda Oktar, is a potential love interest for the long-widowed Carson Drew, and an object of mystery for Nancy. Equally mysterious is a rather ugly statue, purchased in a bazaar and brought to Alda's house, that seems to have a personality all its own. Strange things involving the statue attract the sleuthing talents of the jet-lagged Nancy, who stumbles onto a dangerous plot.

"Night of the Living Chatchke" is a clever and entertaining story. It is also the first of a two part storyline, concluding in "City Under the Basement". It is highly recommended to the latest generation of Nancy Drew fans, who might as well get both copies to have the whole story.
