This review is from: Nancy Drew #18: City Under the Basement (Nancy Drew Graphic Novels (Papercutz Paperback)) (Paperback)
"City Under The Basement" is installment #18 in the latest reincarnation of Nancy Drew, girl detective. This version updates the popular series by Carolyn Keene, reimagining Nancy Drew, her best friends Bess and George, and father Carson Drew into the 21st Century in graphic novel format.
The story picks up where "Night of the Living Chatchke" left off, with Nancy, her father, and Alda, a potential love interest for Carson Drew, trapped in an ancient underground Turkish City with three dangerous criminals. The three criminals are searching for a priceless treasure and are willing to kill for it. Just to make things interesting, the ancient city is perhaps only minutes from being flooded by sea water, and there isn't an obvious exit. Nancy's detective skills are enlisted by the criminals, who agree to keep their captives alive if they can find the treasure. Nancy, and her father will race the clock, and the rising waters, to find either the treasure or a way out of a watery grave. "City Under The Basement" is the clever and entertaining conclusion to a good story. It is highly recommended to the latest generation of Nancy Drew fans. |
