5.0 out of 5 stars Best Mystery Game Yet!!!
I have to say this is the best mystery game I have seen in a while! It's not just for girls either. My son(age 9) and I have played every Nancy Drew game so far together. We have so much fun. It takes about 3 weeks for us because we spread it out and play 1 or 2 hours a night. It makes it last longer. The mysteries are very interesting. There are puzzles and clues...

There are puzzles and clues to figure out. The people and the graphics are great. Mysterious people, objects, crimes, etc. You can SAVE the game whenever you want. There is a herinteractive.com website for help if you get truly stuck in the game. (Only first time Nancy Drew players usually get stuck until you understand the game.) It's not scary at all. Adults who like mystery games will like this too. The ending is always cool. I recommend this for everyone! Have fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars great concept, but..., January 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Nancy Drew: Message in a Haunted Mansion (Video Game)
I am a 31 yr old female gamer. Just so you know where I a coming from...I enjoy the concept and idea of this game and it is true that the graphics are great, but it is way too dark in a lot of parts of it and I find myself holding it just right to try to see, even with one of those game boy lights. Growing up with Nancy Drew books I would buy this game even with that down fall. I hope they come out with more mystery games like this one. It is nice to be able to find myself thinking about who is behind the accidents and where to find clues and excited when I find more. The no save feature does not bother me because it is easy to start in the beginning of each chapter and get caught up to where you left off. I hope this was helpful.

This is one fantastic game! As I said in the title it's got great graphic, it is interesting and keeps you trying to figure out who done it. Well worth it! Thumbs up for this new concept I haven't seen much in games before!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game, important minor flaws., December 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Nancy Drew: Message in a Haunted Mansion (Video Game)
This game is graphicly beautiful and expansive. the game is divided into chapters like the nancy drew books. but the main flaw (and reason it didnt get 5 stars) is that you get a password at the end of a chapter, and CAN NOT SAVE during a chapter. depending on how quickly you can figure out what is going on a chapter can take anywhere from just a few minutes, or when i was completely lost it took me about 3 hours to finish a chapter. so not being able to save during the chapter is a pain.

otherwise, the game is beautiful, engaging, creative and at times complex. this game uses the processing and graphic powers of the gameboy advance to the extreme. i highly recommend this title for adult gamers, particularly women gamers.

I want to start off by saying that this GBA game has beatuifully detailed graphics. As close to 3D as I've seen the GBA get.

In the game, you are Nancy Drew. You take the responsibility to figure out who-or-what created the "accidents" occuring the this mansion whom some believe is haunted. You can go through all the rooms looking for clues, interveiwing people and even calling people on the cell phone.

The game is divided into chapters, much like the actual Nancy Drew books.

There are some big cons to take into consideration however. First off, I hear you can not save during the game. I've tried, yet can not figure out how, which may support that possibility.

The second is the text. During conversations you have to read text in order to know what they are saying...the only problem with that is the size of the font. I have pretty good eye-sight and even with a desklamp AND the GBA light/magnifying accessory shining on the game (but with no glare) I had to squint and struggle to read the words, finally finishing it in a few minutes when normally it would take a few seconds. The text is extremely small!! Of course, the GBA screen is small (well, it IS better than the GB...).

Just take these into consideration when buying this game. Besides the text and saving problems, all else makes this a wonderful game!

The graphics are really good and it looks really real! A huge problem is is takes forever to pass one chapter. And you can only save after you finish a chapter, it took me all day for one, and I went on the internet for a cheat. It is really cool and exciting but it takes all day and is really quite hard. There are a lot of points in the game where you don't know what to do next. I hope I helped! Thank you for reading!

My daughter who is 11yrs old never gets a chance to play on the Playstation, due to her older brother always hogging it up. So I looked into getting something for her and Nancy Drew has opened up a whole new world for her and me. It started out being her adventure and turned out to be mine as well. She loves the games and the challenges it gave her. We have done all of the Nancy Drew Series, including the new one Island of Deception. I can't wait for the next one. We highly recommend getting the whole series for any little girl looking for serious challenges. Be sure to have your pen & paper ready for clues!

3.0 out of 5 stars NO SAVE FEATURE A HUGE PROBLEM, January 28, 2002

I am a parent of a 10 year old girl who loves the Nancy Drew books. She is a beginning gamer and I thought that this would be a great game. However, The NO SAVE feature within a chapter is a huge problem. She really hates turning off the game and loseing all her hard work when she needs to put the game down. It is so frustrating for her and I. I was used to games like Harry Potter where you can save the game and pick up exactly where you left off. Because of this feature I WOULD NOT RECOMEND this game for children.

the games was good, but very hard to play. you had to finish a chapter before you could save and if you did anything in the chapter that was ahead of its time and quit, when you typed in the password it wouldn't be done, so you would have to do it all over again. overall it was a good game but i would reccomend playing it on the computer instead!!!!!!!!!!!!
