In this suspense-packed episode, Nancy and her friends see a beam of light coming from an abandoned lighthouse. When they call the local sheriff, he thinks they're imagining things because the light has disappeared. It's up to Nancy to expose the strange mystery that surrounds the desolate structure. 5.0 out of 5 stars Nancy's first TV episode - Hugely Enjoyable, July 3, 2002
This review is from: Nancy Drew: The Mystery of Pirate's Cove [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My first time to see Nancy Drew (and more importantly, Pamela Sue Martin as Nancy Drew!) in about twenty years. And a real pleasure it was.
The story-line was, well, rather sweet and inoffensive (Nancy investigates - gasp - a haunted lighthouse) but since when has "sweet and inoffensive" been a crime? The performances were great (particularly Pamela Sue Martin, who makes a wonderfully assertive and confident heroine), the story held my interest more than I thought it would (particularly in the latter half when Nancy started to put things together and I found that I was being surprised by the well thought-out scripting) and the whole package was as entertaining as Rockford Files, or Harry O, or any other seventies 'tec show that we grew up with.
I would DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone who remembers the series with fondness, and would even feel confident that it would be good enough to entertain a friend who had never set eyes on the show before.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Eerie thriller- fun for kids at Halloween, January 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Nancy Drew: The Mystery of Pirate's Cove [VHS] (VHS Tape)
While out in a boat during a party, Nancy and friends spot a mysterious light coming from a supposedly abandoned lighthouse. The lighthouse is rumored to be haunted and Nancy, of course, has to investigate attracting the attention of a handsome "ghost-hunter" from California searching for lost pirate treasure. Another classic Nancy Drew and quite well made.

5.0 out of 5 stars ND: Pirate's Cove - have dvd, January 21, 2006
This review is from: Nancy Drew: The Mystery of Pirate's Cove [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have the DVD of Season One Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries on 2 disc set. I basically like all of the episodes, some are more interesting than others. This one, Pirate's Cove, has a pleasant location on the coast, assume east coast; at a 'haunted' lighthouse. A thunderstorm & secret cave adds to the fun. This is probably for 70's fans - and now their younger (7+ yrs) children and grandchildren. I would recommend the dvd set rather the VHS. (My family also enjoyed the Hardy Boys 'Haunted House' episode.)
