I myself read the starter set for Nancy Drew and I found it very exciting and good. It kept me reading and reading. I could not stop! Nancy Drew books are interesting and make you wonder what is going to happen next. When I first read my very 1st Nancy Drew book, I thought it was boring. Until I started to get really into the book. Now I am on the 9th book. Well, going to read the 9th book. I would recommend this to all children 10-12 years old. It is a excellent book and a great book that will make you keep on reading. Until you read them all!

About 1959 these stories were edited and re-published and some of the language was edited out or removed. Recently Applewood Books has re-released the old Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries with the original language. In the new versions Nancy was increased in age from 16 to 18 because it was not thought to be a good idea to have a 16 year-old girl riding around River Heights in her own blue roadster. The original versions refer to black people as Negro or colored and the role of women and minorities is very different from what it is now. In "The Secret of the Old Clock" there is one black person who is the only one in the whole book who talks in slang such as "Sho' 'nuff Miss Nancy." Everyone else in the book is white and is portrayed as talking in correctly spelled English. However I enjoy the original versions more than the cleaned up ones and it gives me a picture of what life was like before World War II in my mother's and father's time. Look for these versions in the Original Nancy Drew series from Applewood Books.

You have got to love all of the Nancy Drew books! I know I do. I own them all. If you haven't ever read one try it and then look me in the eyes and tell me that you didn't like the book. I bet you can't!

The book that I read was Nancy Drew and The Secret of the Old Clock. I think that you should read this book if you like exciting mysteries. Here is a summary about the book. The Secret of the Old Clock is about a girl named Nancy Drew. She loved to solve mysteries. Her father Carson Drew was one of the best lawyers. There was a man that was named Josiah Crowley. He mde a will that was the first will but everyone believed that there was another will. He had a lot of people that he promised money to. That's why everybody thought that there was another will. Nancy Drew thoguht that if anybody had it, it would be the Tomphams but they didn't. The Tophams are the oeople who asked Crowley to stay with them thinking that all of his things to them. Nancy met a lot of people on the way. Nancy met the Turner sisters that told her who to talk to. She talked to some of this cousins, and the Hoover sisters. She also talked to Abby Rowen. She told Nancy a lot of information. Then, Nancy went to find the notebook. Abby Rowen said "old clock" and then her memory went blank. Then Nancy went to the Tophams to ask about the clock. They told her that it was at their bungalow house.When she went there, there was no furniture in the house. Then she heard voices and foot steps coming up to the house and hid in the closet. After a short period of time she sneezed and the men opened the door. Then they closed the door and locked her in the closet. She started to yell... I hope that this summary makes you want to read this book!

I enjoy mysteries so i thought i might give these books a try. I always thought they looked dumb and so i never picked one up, but they are really good. I would recomened it to anyone and everyone.

I LOVED READING ALL THE NANCY DREW BOOKS WHEN I WAS YOUNGER AND NOW THAT I AM A TEENAGER I LOVE READING THEM AGAIN AND ALSO THE NEW SERIES WHERE NANCY IS IN COLLAGE. I LOVED THE SECRET STARICASE. I WISH THAT I OWNED THE OLD BOARDGME!!
