Product Description

From Children's Software Revue® -- "Subscribe Now!"

This second title in the Nancy Drew series has the titian-haired sleuth posing as an extra on a soap opera, trying to expose someone who's been threatening the show's star. Kids "become" Nancy and navigate the program in first person viewpoint, exploring, searching for clues and solving puzzles. In our first hour of play, we had to gather clues in an actor's apartment, make our way to the television studio, search it and piece together a torn letter that we found in a jewelry box. As we explored, we collected items for use later on, namely keys, a VCR remote control and a visitor's pass to the sound stage of the soap opera. We also called Ned on the telephone for a little TLC and phoned Nancy's buddy George for a little sleuthing advice. Reviewers and testers all loved the experience. The graphics are great, the game is very playable and the feeling of suspense and danger is definitely there. The game has three levels of difficulty and an embedded help system. We've yet to make it all the way to the end- let us know if you do!
Teaches: logic, strategy, problem solving

5.0 out of 5 stars Who Knew? I'm Hooked on Nancy Drew!, December 10, 1999

I realize that the software geniuses at HerInteractive originally created the Nancy Drew mystery games for girls...but, uh...even though I'm over 30, I just can't help myself! Stay Tuned for Danger is completely amazing! It's such a thrill to pretend you're Nancy Drew and try to think like a master detective. There's endless puzzles to solve and clues to look for. But watch out for mind-boggling twists, turns and surprises--they'll keep you occupied for hours! You truly have to see the dynamite 3D graphics to believe it! Each room you enter is designed and decorated with exquisite detail. You'll also love the music and captivating dialogue between the characters. Beware of only one thing: you may get hooked! Everyone will LOVE this game! (I'm trying to tear my husband away from it as we speak...he's been playing the game now for 8 straight hours!)

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome game, December 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Nancy Drew: Stay Tuned for Danger (CD-ROM)
This computer game has a such a wonderful environment to explore! I wish there was more of it! The 3-D animated characters are a nice improvement over the 2-D animation in "Secrets Can Kill". The puzzles are fun, and the game play is addictive. This game is a little bit tougher than the last game...you really have to hunt for those clues. "Stay Tuned" is perfect for anyone who loves a good mystery. It's a refreshing alternative to the blood, gore and evil in the popular software games today. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sleuthing isn't easy, but it sure is fun!, January 24, 2001

This is the second game in the Nancy Drew software series that I've tried (I've also played "Message In a Haunted Mansion"), and this was by far the more difficult of the two. In this game, Nancy is staying with a soap star, Mattie, whose on-screen co-star, Rick, has been receiving death threats. It's up to Nancy to find out who is behind them. The game requires not only patience but a smart mind; you have to remember things and write down clues, solve puzzles, and plan things accordingly. Although I enjoyed playing it, it was frustrating at times, and one time, I spent several hours thinking I was stuck, because I had not noticed the arrival of an important new object. (Boy did I feel silly when I finally noticed it!) This game will take you many hours to complete. For fans of the older Nancy Drew books, there's an added bonus -- the games feature objects from the books (look for the clock from "The Secret of the Old Clock", with the crescent on the top!) and other little fun things like that. I want to offer two hints that I think will be helpful: #1, pay attention to the chair in Mattie's house, near the phone. #2, explore all rooms **thoroughly**. You will pick up many objects during this game, and all will either be important, or finding them will just advance the game. You may need to explore rooms two or three times to find everything. Also, if after you've installed this game (or Message In A Haunted Mansion), you get an error message that the game can not locate a Direct Draw Surface, and you KNOW your computer meets all the system requirements, make sure your hardware acceleration is set to FULL. If you're using Windows 98 you can do this by going to your Control Panel, clicking on "Display", then clicking on the "Settings" tab, then clicking the "Advanced..." button, then clicking the "Performance" tab, and pushing the bar all the way up to "Full." Then you'll need to restart you computer. This solved the problem for me. Hope this helps! All in all, this is a very fun game for teenage girls and young women (and hey, guys too!), great for friends and family members to play together, and just an all-in-all wonderful game. I hope Dreamcatcher and HER Interactive make more of these!
