Great Stuff
A freind of mine always made such wonderful treats that were low in fat but didn't taste it. Finally I asked her for the recipies of some of her treats and she got them from this book. I went out and bought the book and have been getting recipe requests as well. A MUST BUY!

Healthy is a misnomer, chemical cookery is more like it!
Nifty packaging but the inclusion of the word "healthy" in the title of this book is somewhat misleading. Few people are likely to say that items like Duncan Hine's cake mixes, Pillsbury dough, instant vanilla pudding, Oreo cookies, Coca-cola, minimarshmallows, maraschino cherries, Cool Whip, M & Ms, Equal, Snackwell's vanilla cookies, or Nabisco...

Healthy is a misnomer, chemical cookery is more like it!, July 9, 1999

This review is from: Nancy's Healthy Kitchen Baking Book (Hardcover)
Nifty packaging but the inclusion of the word "healthy" in the title of this book is somewhat misleading. Few people are likely to say that items like Duncan Hine's cake mixes, Pillsbury dough, instant vanilla pudding, Oreo cookies, Coca-cola, minimarshmallows, maraschino cherries, Cool Whip, M & Ms, Equal, Snackwell's vanilla cookies, or Nabisco Chocolate wafers are healthy and yet these and many other brand-name and/or instant foodstuffs are used in the so-called healthy recipes in this volume. The reduction in fats and sugars per portion appears to be accomplished mainly by making portion sizes really small...really really small. My disappointment with this cookbook is huge because, instead of the wholesome healthy baking recipes I had anticipated, there are ingredient lists replete with brand-name refined food products which we normally do not purchase.

Good recipes with extremely small portion sizes!, June 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Nancy's Healthy Kitchen Baking Book (Hardcover)
The book is full of good recipes, but it is a trick that they are lowfat and lowcal. For instance, it will say it makes 100 cookies when really it makes about 30 normal size cookies. It makes 100 cookies if they are the size of a pea! I was very disappointed overall with this book, because although the recipes attempt to cut out fat and calories, the trick is that the portion sizes are ridiculous. At first, I thought GREAT, HEALTHY baking! But this turned out to be a falsehood!

Excellent muffin recipes!, March 27, 2011
This review is from: Nancy's Healthy Kitchen Baking Book (Hardcover)
I have owned this book since 1998, and I have made the muffin recipes so often that my book is falling apart. I am going to buy another book soon, since this one has been used so much!
I use this book exclusively for the muffins. I don't even really make muffins, I pour the batter into a 9X13 cake pan and cut into squares, to avoid buying papers and tins. They are very tasty and very filling. The fact that they are very healthy just makes it even better.
I stopped buying Nutrigrain bars and granola bars and I eat the hearty muffins instead. It saves me money and is more healthy too.
