I wanted a simple light for my camcorder and this one was cheaper than some that put out far less light or cost more than twice as much. I was surprised at the quality of the item. It is bright, even, and dimmable. It uses three standard (rechargeable or not) AA batteries, so you can shoot as long as you want and just replace batteries as necessary. Other low price lights have internal, rechargeable batteries that force you to have several for a long day of shooting so you can swap them out when the batteries are exhausted. When the internal battery will not hold a charge the entire unit is dead. With this light and a bunch of rechargeable batteries you only need one light and it will last indefinitely.

My particular camcoder is a Canon XA-10 with a shotgun mic. mount on the side. Unfortunately, the light is too wide to fit in the cold shoe and not interfere with the mic. Other lights have a 1/4" screw mount built into the cold shoe mount so you can tripod mount or use an adapter to raise the light a half inch or so to clear the mic. This one doesn't have a screw mount, which would have been a simple and add no or little cost to the manufacturer. I have ordered a hot shoe adapter meant for still cameras in the hope that it will raise the light the half inch I need to clear the mic.

Very bright and light weight with some cheap batteries. You can also dim the brightness of the wheel on the back, very handy.

I used this on top of my T3i about 3 times and then the hot shoe broke. For no reason, I just couldn't turn it to tighten any longer. Light still works and is plenty bright enough, but product is a very cheap plastic. Consider one that is a little bit more expensive but will allow you to use it as intended for at least a few months to a year or so.

This light has helped focus my film-making components into a nice tidy complete set, as I simply needed a bit of light to address indoor shooting of scene such as at a small night club venue where lighting is sporatic. This light eliminates the need for me to carry around supplimental lighting rigs for specific shots that need only minor illumination of low light surroundings.

The Brightness of this light blew me away, as well as the color filters which correct the off-setting of the white balance (Blue-ish white)without having to re-balance the camera settings.

This unit is probably not intended to replace studio lighting, nor does it elimnate the need for suplemental lighting kits and rigs for situations requiring substantial lighting.

The dimmer control makes this unit an exceptional buy, in my opinion. And for the price, I think I will purchase another unit.

Brightness
Power was out at my place the day I recieved the unit, and it was so powerful it light up my living room and I had fun shining it outside of my complex creating a daylight affect.

It's light, sturdy, and does its job very well!

This gadget's part of my on-the-go interview kit when I speak to people at live events. It's a rig with a DSLR, microphone, and this bad boy. So much more comfortable than my old DVCAM broadcast cameras.

The tungsten, pink, and diffuser filters are quite nice. They're even double-sided so you don't have to worry about installing it incorrectly (and they include a nifty little case).

I like that it uses AA batteries; I'm partial to using rechargeable ones, because I have so many of them.

My only point of improvement is the battery door, it's a little light to the touch and easy to fall off. It shouldn't directly affect your shoot, but I wish it could fit more snug.

Overall, this one's a winner! Great for the videographer on the go.

Great light to use with my Canon HG21 video cam. I like the variable lighting control when shooting close objects and that it can use any type of double AA batteries. Price is right

I rated this 5 stars cause it is performing more than I expected it to. It is a very powerful light. What I dislike the most about it that it's made out of cheap plastic. It can easily break if you are not careful with it. I like that it has an adjustable dimming switch. Other than that, I would recommend this for an individual who is trying to build up their camera gear. It's a great addition when you need it if your camera doesn't have a light.

I own many LED lights...this one by far is the easiest to use, most versatile, lightest, most elegant design and the least expensive...go figure.

Light is bright. Filters are only available in different colors, but not different opacity. Considering the price, this product is a steal, but then again as experienced by another buyer, the flange for the hot shoe is very weak. Within a little bit more than a month, the flange on one side is already broken. Light is bright, but then again if the hot shoe is broken, there is no way of attaching the light to anything. :( Lost $20. Lifespan: Oct. 30 -- Dec. 5.

The light is definitely worth the money. The material it is made out of is obviously cheap and plastic. I would imagine the light would completely break or take heavy damage if dropped on a hard surface. However, if you are careful with it and usually take good care of your things this is a good buy. The light is extremely bright and can be adjusted. I use the light to film skateboarding at night an it works great especially attached to a Cam Caddie. It also came with 3 filters and a filter holder. The holder was ripped and torn apart for me (obviously used). This product is a great overall buy if you are on a tight budget and usually take good care of your stuff. Just remember when buying a cheap product like this, something almost always comes in broken or used.

PROS:
Cheap
Bright
Takes regular batteries and camera batteries

CONS:
Weak plastic
Filter holder came in broken (risk of broken product)
