4.0 out of 5 stars A Lot of Fun -- Not Worth 20 bucks
I just finished my hour-long demo of this from bigfishgames. The game is a lot of fun as a "time-management" game, where you have to pick up clothes, do dishes, change diapers and the like (yes that's actually fun in this game); but it's not especially different from many of its genre, though its graphics are a bit ahead of the usual. I'd get it from an online source or...

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun, But Quickly Turns Repetitive, June 30, 2007
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Nanny Mania (CD-ROM)
The nanny in Nanny Mania does everything except drive the kids. Then again, the family's head of household is the Suburbia's Mayor, so he probably has a chauffeur.

You're working to keep the house clean and the family happy. Nanny Mania also resembles a Sims game in that you watch the family live their lives. When furniture or book shelves need cleaning, they appear highlighted in yellow. Click once and nanny's arms flail and poof the item is clean. Some tasks take more than one click such as changing the baby's diaper, giving the baby a bottle and cooking a meal.

The game begins with the parents and one baby. Easy. Each level has five rounds. When you complete a level, the parents have another child and the younger ones get older. The most the nanny handles is four children. After that, the only thing that changes is the age of the kids, the messes they make and the frequency of the messes. Eventually, you won't have to deal with dirty diapers or warming bottles.

I thought the game would change once all four kids arrived. It doesn't and the game turns monotonous. I feel like I start every level doing the same steps with small variations. Soon, I dislike Dad because he goes off to work or plays golf leaving Mom alone to eat with the four kids.

I figure out the family's routine. When Dad returns from anything, I expect muddy footprints and a messy dresser. Sometimes I follow him into his bedroom where he changes his clothes and messes the dresser so I can fix the dresser.

A Mac user playing the game became frustrated when he clicked ahead and struggled to undo some moves when something unexpected happened like mealtime. Mac users don't have two mouse buttons on their notebooks -- I am an unlucky gal who doesn't own a Mac, but I imagine the Mac has an option for undo. For PC users, undo actions by pressing the right-mouse button.

The game may attract the younger set as repetition helps them improve game play. But for me, I play enough so I can write this review. I have no desire to play Nanny Mania. The game's strengths are the graphics and speed (some games have subtle pauses or take too long to make something happen). I believe Nanny Mania could have greater success if it would introduce more elements to offer more variety. Apparently, the player takes over the fole of Mom and a teen, but I couldn't take it anymore.....

I'd get it from an online source or wait until it goes down in price. 20 bucks is too steep for a casual game of this nature.

If you like the same thing each time you play, this will work. I enjoyed it but once you reach the highest level, it's over. Nothing new, just start over with a different face for your nanny.

A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

This is a great game especially if you want a kid to understand maybe how messy they are! But I got this gift from my Grandmother for my 11 birthday and I love it. I could't wait to play it. I played it and it was a lot of fun. I think it is the best for 8+.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fun at first...then I'd rather do my own laundry, March 18, 2008
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Nanny Mania (CD-ROM)
I personally didn't care for it. Great concept and it was fun...at first. As others said, it was the same thing over and over. The only time the family interatcted with eachother was at the kitchen table. The kids were all ignored with no discipline. I wanted to get after them for messing up what I just cleaned (that's true life!)and I wanted a baby gate for those stairs. How those toddlers got up and down those stairs in their walkers without getting hurt is beyond me! The family was patient waiting for their meals. If it was Diner Dash, they'd get mad at the waiting and leave! Sad family of slobs. Yes, I'm putting too much into it but I don't think it was worth what I paid ($20!) I finished the whole game within just a few hours. What was those 3 lives for? I guess I was too good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Loved it first off, but then it just kept going and going..., February 19, 2008

When I first began playing Nannny Mania, I loved the concept. You start with a dad, mom and baby, and you have to keep up with their messes and also tend to all the baby's needs. Soon after, more children come into play, which make the messes more frequent and the demands of the family higher. It can be tough keeping up with everything, but never to the point where I felt like I was going to lose the round.

But then, it is just the same thing over and over. You don't ever upgrade to anything. You begin to get used to what is going to happen next, so you can anticipate your next move to the point where it is not even challenging anymore. I kept playing the game to beat the game (which ending was definetly lacking luster) but now I have not played it since.

Perhaps if it had different locations after a certain amount of days, it might help spice up the monotany. I have to go with a lot of the other reviewers on this though, and say that it was fun in the beginning, but got tedious after some time.

It is fun, but like one other person mentioned it becomes repetitive, and you will get bored fast.

Nanny Mania is loads of fun. If you like the Diner Dash series you'll probably enjoy this game. The only down side is that it doesn't have enough levels; it didn't take long to complete the game.

I found this game too easy, had it beat in no time with all kinds of time bonus's for completing it fast. A good game for pre-teen or teenager, not much fun for adults.

If you are looking for a "light" game to play(meaning not hard to figure out gameplay) this one is perfect for you. Overall it is a fun game. The graphics are cute too. The only thing annoying is the baby crying on the first level. But other than that it's ok:)
