Book Synopsis

With the country on the brink of financial collapse, billionaire and high tech entrepreneur Dave Henson breaks an old personal oath to himself to remain apolitical as he attempts a daring and dangerous mission to save the country.

Dave, along with a small group of engineers at his company NSurv, and his old friend and news reporter Dana Cogswell, decide to use NSurv’s bio-nano sensor technology to bring a whole new level of transparency between the federal government and the public. In the process they discover and reveal a sinister plot by the President and his administration to secretly drain and transfer the country's wealth and power to foreign entities.

While Dave and his team covertly work to change the country’s political and economic direction by exposing the corruption in Washington D.C., the President announces his new plans to end global climate change and restore the country's economy. However the President's plans run sinisterly deeper, and include the required use of personal tracking sensors to be installed in every automobile and product sold in the country. If the President's plans become law, Dave is convinced it will destroy the country and provide the government with unfettered surveillance of the public.

Dave’s team quickly finds itself intertwined in a deadly war with the President and his allies. As the NSurv team works to capture and report the ultimate story to topple the administration and save the country, the President and his allies stop at nothing to protect their self interests and to capture NSurv's new surveillance technology. Risking life and limb, and a rekindled relationship with Dana, Dave remains undeterred while he leads his team forward in accomplishing their mission. Mentally torn, Dave inevitably has to ask the most from Dana. His request, and her decision on how much to sacrifice of herself, tests their new found relationship and holds the key to their ultimate success.

Editorial Reviews

Review

***** 5 Stars ***** By Orma - As I read this book it brought a sense of our current situation going on in our country today. Have been aware of this technology for some time now. I believe that it is in use today but not as described in this book. I believe it is being used on the American people. The insight of the writer is amazing. I think this is a read for every one in this country to open their eyes to see things are not as they seem. Thank you Mark.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Excellent......."Orwellian"......Thriller......... July 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Author, Mark Donovan's debut full length novel is excellent..It's, about power, control, corrupt government and corporations..It's a slow building suspense, espionage, nano/tech thriller..This story goes way beyond our days of "Big Brother" is watching..Good character development and two story plot lines that seamlesly intertwine..What I especially liked was that each chapter heading had the date, coast and timeline, which as you continue reading along makes you start fearing a countdown to the chaotic, explosive ending...The novel was fascinating yet shocking at the same time..I read for entertainment value and there were no typos in my copy..

Even though this novel is fiction, it's very thought provoking..Nano-Technology is very real and being experimented with today..In our society we already have camera surveillance everywhere, wire tapping and the very controversial "Drones"..So, who really knows anymore what our society is becoming and who you can really trust...This is what this thriller will show you..

Private Corporation NSURV is 3 years ahead of even the military govenment with nano/tech...Creating new prototypes and nano-dust which could be used for good or very deadly if fell into the wrong hands..Everbody is after this covert group...In the mean time in Washington, the President announces the "Transportation Movement Act" which he is trying to get passed in Congress and sell it to the people of U.S....So, he can get cars off the road with destructive carbon emissions because he is concerned over "global warming"...But is it really about global warming or dark hidden secret, backroom deals meant for total control over the United States...Can Dave Henson, his covert group of scientists and operatives expose the truth in time.....

This is no longer the "American Dream", but living the "American Nightmare"......

5.0 out of 5 stars fascinating, but scary August 24, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The capabilities of nano research and its possible use totally fascinated me,but at the same time the story line was too close to home.
Much of what troubled the team in the novel seems to be happening in the world today. I kept thinking if this research comes to total reality, what if?????????
Even though I rated the book 5, there were times I felt the author belabored the main idea a bit too much. He kept repeating his reasons for his actions. I felt a bit more editing would have moved the book along a bit faster. However I totally recommend this book. It's an eye opener.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun concept bu needs work December 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book was at the same time fun, and difficult to read. The concepts were well imagined and close enough to reality to make for an engaging story. If only that were enough.

This book needs some serious editing. Improper word usage throughout made it hard to keep reading. There, they're and their seem to always be in the wrong place. Lots of apostrophes where they shouldn't be and missing where they should. And lots of story elements that would have worked much better in shortened form. In essence, this would have been much better if it had been funneled through a good editor. And no, I'm not an editor looking for work. Just a well written yarn. So... Good concept, poor execution.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book that is a MUST READ ! August 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Nano Surveillance is a gripping, thought inspiring novel. We may not be ready to accept it but this book will open your eyes to what is happening today. The book develops an intriguing story around a small group that actually has a technologically advantage over our government ... and keeping that control can be a challenge. This novel is an awesome thriller that has so many levels of controversy that builds the suspense. Very well written and a thrill to read. Highly recommend !

4.0 out of 5 stars entertaining new sci-fi August 17, 2013
Format:Paperback
The brain police arrive using self-organizing nano tech.
An adventure where the heroes escape detection and capture
while bringing down a corrupt President.
While the story is sort of politically and scientifically
naive, the concept of a small group individuals being able to
influence national and international events using technology is nice.
We are a long way from some of the nano tech used
and the outcome in the real world would probably
be much different: from all dead to living out their lives behind bars.
In real life the Unibomber story shows that no matter how clever,
the end of such actions leads to one place.
In my own life I have noticed that no good deed goes unpunished,
no matter how well meant! But happy ending are good for novels.
The author's characterizations are a little one dimensional,
but the action has a Clive Cussler type of effect
that is nice. I liked the novel.

Enjoyed book very much, needed lot of "tightening up". With a good editor (or at least a good proofreader) book would have been much better.

The author is a good story teller. He could use an editor for his frequent grammatical mistakes. A bit of a second edit is required.

Great thriller about a corrupt White House and an abetting Congress, with a Soros-esque villain.
