The creators of this game system took down the web site and servers that support the online game play around the end of January 2011. there is no longer any way to upgrade or trade your nanovors without the online servers. One can however copy the contents of the scopes folders to a computer to back up a collection or "swarm". My 10 year old got two scopes for christmas last year and still enjoys playing with them. One con is that the device itself is an incredible battery hog. Keep lots of spare "AAA" batteries on hand for this toy. and don't leave the scope turned on till the batteries die as this with kill the system's memory and all data can be lost! not a problem if you have copied the devices content's data to a folder on a computer, you can just copy it back on.Nanovor Nanoscope Digital Collectible Game

I wasn't too sure about the whole Nanovour gig, but my 10yr and 9yr old sons LOVE this game! It's easy to use, fun to play and the online interface is better than I thought it would be. Though it NEEDS the online interface to accomplish anything. That was my only complaint, but the online access is easy and not expensive. Playing with other units makes offline fun much more easy, and its an online game with a smart twist. The extra offline games make it easier to play offline and with other units. My boys are currently favoring this over their DS's! and that has been since they got them at Christmas.
