5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book
This was the best book I got in preparation for our trip to Napa. When I received it I didn't think it would be very helpful- I was wrong - we used the description of restaurants every day - if we wanted breakfast, all we had to do was look at the descriptions and make a decision. We went to several restaurants that we never would have known about (that were excellent)...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not very good at all...........
Unfortunately I found that this book was a waste of money. It was more of a address/telephone directory, rather than a travel guide. Save your money. You can find the same information online or in travel booklets that you can get upon arrival to Napa. I bought several books to prepare for my trip and this one was by far the worst. It lists addresses and telephone numbers...

Unfortunately I found that this book was a waste of money. It was more of a address/telephone directory, rather than a travel guide. Save your money. You can find the same information online or in travel booklets that you can get upon arrival to Napa. I bought several books to prepare for my trip and this one was by far the worst. It lists addresses and telephone numbers of wineries, restaraunts and lodging with little reccomendation. I purchased this book to help me choose my itinerary and I didn't feel any more educated or informed after reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars To see Napa, see this book, November 11, 2007

Whether you live in or visit the Napa Valley, you can rely on this guide. My copy of the previous edition is heavily flagged and underlined because there is so much to do and see here. Now that I have the new edition, my future house guests will benefit as much as I. While I wish the review of the Lobster Shack gave more menu details and were as enthusiastic about the restaurant as my local and visiting friends and I are, we always consult the Napa Valley Book to plan our itinerary. And the guide never fails us. You can make the most of the valley if you make the most of this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars 3rd Edition the Best, October 10, 2007

The latest version is even better, more detail, more wine info, more listings, and still a pleasure to read. Using the suggestions pays off nicely, but just reading and day-dreaming is pretty good, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your Best Guide to the Napa Valley!, October 9, 2007

If you want "the Napa Valley experience" -- whether you're there for a short or long visit -- this is the one book I would recommend! We live in San Francisco, but spend a good deal of time in Napa, and this book has become our "travel bible". We've tried many of the author's recommendations, and have never been disappointed. Our friends echo the same comments. Napa is a destination with so much to see and do and this guide can help you to plan a memorable itinerary. Not only are the author's recommendations dependable, but his commentary is genuinely enjoyable to read. This is a winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars clever, informative, September 4, 2007

I live here and didn't know much of this! This is clever, informative and a great gift. I actually gave one away to a friend who was retiring so that she could really experience this beautiful place now that she had the time to do so. An excellent resource book for both the native and the visitor. The best!
