This deck of cards is an authentic deck of Italian playing cards. Italian playing cards most commonly consist of 40 cards (4 suits from 1-7 and 3 face cards). The three face cards in each deck are the King, Cavallo (calvary man) and Fante (Infantry Man), except in the French region (see below) which uses a Queen instead of a Cavallo. Playing with Italian playing cards gives any player a wonderful historical perspective on this great country.

These are the perfect Italian playing cards. My dad has been using these since the 60s and they are the best.

I am a big fan of Italian card games such as briscola and tresette ever since I could breath. I had many decks in my life, but Napoletane were always my favorite. Their design used to give me thrills, especially if made by Modiano. However, the deck I purchased recently looks really bad. The reason is simple: the blue component is too dark, making images on the cards look too gloomy, hardly recognizable. A couple of months after purchasing this deck, I had an opportunity to travel to Italy and I bought the same deck there. The cards looked the same - way too dark blue color :-(

I am not happy. As I said above, I am a great fun of Italian card games, I love Napoletane in particular, and I was always happy with products from Modiano. But, this particular set I can not recommend from aesthetic reasons. I believe I will order the product again in a couple of years, hoping somebody at Modiano takes a look at the cards which come out of the printing line, and corrects the blue component.

Love these cards! Well made and thick just like the decks we have purchased when in Italy. Bright coloring, plastic coated to keep from getting dirty, just wipe clean with a wet cloth. Would recommend to anyone considering purchasing.
