5.0 out of 5 stars N(H)appily Surprised and Thoroughly Satisfied!!, June 7, 2010
This review is from: Un-Nappily in Love (Paperback)
This is a continuation of a great series!! You wonder how an author can keep things fresh and exciting with the same characters (sans any murder mysteries to solve), but Trisha Thomas does it effortlessly. I just love Jake and Venus--Jake is the type of guy any girl would love--I'm thinking a little Micheal Ealy, and Venus has chutzphah. This one focuses more on the strength of their relationship and also showcases an evolved Trevelle Duvall. I'd like to see what happens with her and Vince. I'd also like to see what happens with the pregnancy and (spoiler alert) is Christopher really Jake's son. (That's all I'll give away, promise.) I don't think Sirena is gone just yet. Oh, and where, oh, where is Legend?? I hope Ms. Thomas keeps them coming; I look forward to the next installment. If you haven't read them in order, do yourself a favor and start from the beginning--it will be well worth it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love that Stands the Test, August 19, 2010
This review is from: Un-Nappily in Love (Paperback)
As a wife, it is heartwarming to be a part of your husband's success and to encourage him, but when Jake Parson became a very famous actor, adjustments in their family had to be made, including dealing with the paparazzi and new fans. In Un-Nappily in Love, author Trisha R. Thomas shares how Jake's wife, Venus, handles being the wife of such a famous celebrity while trying to keep her sanity and as much normalcy in her life at the same time.

Movie shoots, publicity interviews, location changes, long hours, days and weeks all became a part of the Parson household when Jake went from being a famous recording artist to instant movie celebrity with his first movie. His leading lady, Sirena Lassiter, not only convinced movie-goers that their romantic relationship was real on the movie screen, but she worked to make it appear as real as possible for the cameras off-screen as well.

Venus did all she could to be there for Jake, and bask in his success, but she still had a house to care for, a daughter to raise and a flower shop to oversee. However, it was becoming more and more difficult to stand under the scrutiny of the public's and media opinion of Jake and Sirena's true relationship and what that could mean to the health of her marriage.

Will Jake and Venus's marriage succumb under the pressures of the new changes in their lives, or will the love they have for one another prove the test of time? Un-Nappily in Love is a story that will have you fighting for Venus and urging her to do what you already know you would do if you felt someone was a threat to your marriage. I have to admit that sneakers and Vaseline quickly came to mind, but I do appreciate the way author Thomas allows love to have its free course.

I recommend this book to everyone who loves romance and true love.

4.0 out of 5 stars (3.5 Stars) An Entertaining Read, October 31, 2010
This review is from: Un-Nappily in Love (Paperback)
Venus and Jake are back again with more issues than ever before. Jake has embarked on a new career as a movie star and is living in the spotlight. But things get a little complicated when his sexy co-star Sirena Lassiter wants to rekindle their relationship from the past, a past that Venus knows nothing about. Sirena also has a secret that could make Jake's life a living nightmare. It also doesn't help matters when Venus is feeling like the third wheel in her marriage and wonders what will become of it. Will the price of fame be too much for Venus and Jake?

Un-Nappily in Love is the sixth installment of the Nappily series by Trisha R. Thomas. Thomas brings back the beloved characters of Venus and Jake and throws in a few new interesting ones too. You get to see how Jake's sudden movie star status disrupts his home life and causes a new set of problems (i.e. the paparazzi.) Trevelle Doval and her storyline could have been left out of this book because it added nothing to this story. There is a shocking twist in this book that readers won't see coming. But the ending of this book was too unrealistic and too clean to be believable. It looks like there could be a little room for another installment, but it's hard to imagine where else Thomas could go with these characters. It's time to end this series because things are just getting way too outlandish. Un-Nappily in Love is still an entertaining read by Trisha R. Thomas.

4.0 out of 5 stars Is Love Enough?, September 14, 2010

I ALMOST wanted to start singing "Jake and Sirena" ...sitting in a tree...kiss...ing, but if Venus were "real", she MIGHT not find that amusing about her husband who is Jake Parson (aka JP)..the STAR of the movie he is making with his "first love" Sirena Lassiter, a fact he has conveniently (or not), forgot to mention to Venus and it goes downhill from there.

Jake and Venus struggle to balance work and love in this fun read that had me flipping to see what would happen next. They both have past demons that seem to erupt at the wrong time and seek to test how strong the vows they took really are.

If your looking for a quick read that is an interesting take on love and romance this is it. I look forward to the next installment of the Nappily series.
