If you are a reader of all things natural/healthy hair, Erin Shell Anthony's book Nappturosity is a wonderful additon that will fit perfectly along with your collection.

When I first heard about the book, I thought that it would contain pretty much the same information that I have read in so many other natural hair books that I have read, but I was pleasantly surprised by the book's content.

Why it's unique...

Nappturosity helps you to develop a healthy hair care regime i.e. washing and conditioning, for your specific hair type with step-by-step instructions; it gives detailed information on dietary supplements that not only aid in hair growth but overall health in general, for loc wearers or those contemplating locs - it breaks down all the stages of your loc growth including details for different types of locs i.e. Sisterlocks, Braidlocs etc. (it even gives step-by-step instructions on the latching method); it lists 'support' groups for both loose hair and loc'd naturals - providing site addresses; and much, much more.

So much information is packed in Nappturosity I can see why some reviewers called it the haircare Bible :o)

I love the fact that the author mentions a product or accessory and actually tells you what it's for and where to get it. Her Harmful Ingredient Review chapter is one of my favorites, along with the easy to follow homemade product recipe chapter with detailed descriptions of essential oils and other natural ingredients and what they are used for.

I would categorize Nappturosity as a pocket reference guide for natural hair, because I constantly find myself referring back to it. This book is a definite must-have.

This book didn't contain the information I thought it would. The majority of the book is focused on locs. So if you're looking for great information on loc maintenance and styles, this book is perfect for that. Since I don't have locs (or want them) it wasn't very good for me. BUT towards the back of te book there are a few sections that are great for natural hair consumers. There's a section on recommended products and a section on how to read ingredients on the products you buy and what ingredients to avoid. That is awesome! For that reason, this book is useful and worth the money I spent on it.

I have both the e-book and the paperback book. The e-book was fabulous because of the accompanying interviews and detailed accounts of experiences from entrepreneurs, artists and salon professionals with natural hair.

Both resources were well written, easy to read and follow guides through understanding your natural hair texture to creating your own products! Erin is also a well informed and well versed woman whose confidence radiates from her just being herself.

I recommend this book for anyone considering going natural and is seeking help on how to maintain healthy natural hair and locs.

I purchased the book for my 20 year old daughter that decided to stop perming her hair about a year ago. She LOVES the book and has learned so much from reading it. The natural hair tips and product information has been very helpful. I have now decided to stop perming my hair and allow my hair to be in it's natural and beautiful state. This book is AWESOME!

I liked this book because the author had natural afro hair/locs recipes, which we can make at home. There was also info on how to maintain locs/loose hair, and what products to use, etc. I would recommend the book to people who are new to locs, and natural afro loose hair, or to those who like me like to collect good books on afro texttured hair.
The book is wriiten in an easy to read way, with letters that are not too small.
Only thing is that there are very few pics in the book (around 8 small pictures), and are they are in black and white, as is normally the case with these kind of afro texture books.
I give it 5 stars for good information!
