5.0 out of 5 stars The Soundtrack to your Childhood Memories
This is highly visual, magical music. Before I bought this, I had heard of none of the artists featured, nor of the Narada label. Since buying it, I followed up by buying several albums from them -- in particular, Richard Souther, Martin Kolbe, and Eric Tingstad/Nancy Rumbel. And I still haven't been able to find an album that matches the magic of this one.

For once, this is a 'various artists' album of entirely new music that really works. For me, it brings back memories not just of the time I bought it, on a visit to a snowbound Rochester, Minnesota, but of the televised fairy tales (mostly from Eastern Europe) which I used to watch as a child in the 60s -- particularly 'The Singing, Ringing Tree'.

5.0 out of 5 stars my childhood remembered, November 14, 2001

When I was in junior high my mother and I were shoping and came across this tape. We got in the car and were captured by the sound of such peace. In the seventh grade I made a copy for my music teacher but I never gave it to her. I think I will make her one now. I am so happy to find this once again and I can not wait to experience it again as my love for this type of music has grown. This album was the begining of my passion for beautiful classical music. All these years it has been with me.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most moving collection of music I've heard in my life, June 6, 2000

Of all the music I have heard in my life, none has touched my soul like A Childhood Remembered has. Being young myself (a mere 16 years old), I feel very close to the moods and feelings set forth by the music. From listening to A Childhood Remembered in the morning to listening to it as I fall asleep at night, it has clearly had a definite positive effect on my life. I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could.

I have found this wonderful collection of music endlessly inspiring, and have listened to it periodically since its release in '91! Generally I find "pure" New Age music (as I would define this CD) useful only as soothing background music. Never before have I been so immersed in a musical collection that originated from the New Age genre. Additionally, this collection truly does recreate the wonder and amazement often times associated with childhood. While listening, I commonly find myself traveling through green orchards, endless golden meadows, and majestic mountain peaks, spiraling endlessly into the heavens. Highly recommended, even for those generally uninspired by New Age!

The first time I heard this music I had borrowed the cd from the library to listen to on my daily commute. After listening to the first 2 or 3 songs, I knew I would have to find it. It is beautiful moving music. You can almost feel the stories each song is modeled after. You won't be unhappy!

I used to play Narada CDs to send my son to sleep when he was young (he's 22 now). This one was one of his favorites and remains to this day. In particular, Wayne Gratz' "The Green Room" - I've heard the piece probably a hundred times over but the memories it evokes can still easily bring tears to my eyes.

I was told about this CD from a friend of mine. I thanked him
for letting me borrow it. I immediately purchased it. I am not afraid to say that some tunes in here can make my eyes water. This is great music for your soul. The music takes you into each story like a trip back to childhood. Every artist in here
have contributed their heart's work to make this the best new age CD ever. Buy it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Most Excellent Return to the Joys of Childhood, June 21, 1999
By A Customer

I highly recommend this album. Like the other reviewer, this has been my favorite recording since I purchased it nearly 8 years ago. The cuts are impeccably true the imaginative spirit of childhood. For adults, it's sheer enjoyment. For a child, it would be a magnificent introduction to music forms and genres that spark the imagination and enhance the creative spirit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Childhood memories that carry into one's adulthood, July 10, 2011
I bought this cd for my daughter who was 2 year who has a thing for classical and musical tones. Even as of today as a young adult who loves to write and listen to this cd it still inspire her to believe in the impossible as always this music always relaxes her and inspire her in a way that is serene and magical. Thank you for magical 17 years of your beautiful music that sounds like we heard it for the first time every time we play it. Thanks, Mary

I have long enjoyed Narada collections (especially the many that are themed around the winter/Yule/Christmas season) and had high hopes for this one. I was expecting beautiful instrumental pieces composed for children, to be listened to by children, to bring a sense of wonder to children. Instead, the tracks are just synthetic and not engaging (despite all those intriguing titles). My daughter(5)was disturbed by the use of this cd as background music and wanted it turned off. Perhaps I misunderstood the intended audience, but even as a collection for adult ears, it falls flat.
